With defcon, the value of rolling FTs, no real fixture swings, the value of using FTs on attacking DEFs and budget attackers to attack short term fixtures is limited.
Especially if that takes you further away from a more robust long term team
Building on the meta discussion, I’ve benched so many pts this season. Every instance has been benching a DEF for a mid priced MID or FWD.
With 7pt CS potential (max bonus), defcons and set piece threat, DEFs have more routes to pts, floor and ceiling than the budget attackers

I watched a bit of FPL content yesterday and almost every video promoted Jan Paul Van Hecke.
Spurs are 19th despite really good fixtures and Van Hecke is the 21st highest scoring defender.

It makes it almost impossible to get into a good run of green arrows when, for example, a Calafiori 8 and Silva 8 leaves you on a red arrow after a Konsa 10 and Van Hecke 15

The DEFCON CBs are becoming so overpowered and the attackers are so underwhelming it's difficult to argue against a back 4 or back 5, but my god it is a bit boring.
Unpopular opinion but I think people are misunderstanding the Jackson, Barry, Bakar fiasco.
I think managers believe CCs like Bakar were recommending Jackson until a magic Review update had Barry projected higher.

Path B: Barry with 90 mins, 2 good fixtures; 1m saving to invest elsewhere by benching Barry most weeks eg to allow an Mbeumo + Gabriel structure
