REMINDER! C Street will be taken over by ghosts, goblins, princesses, and superheroes this evening! 📷 Safe trick-or-treating is coming to C Street TODAY, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m., and we need a little help clearing the way for all the spooky fun. If you have parked on C Street, please find your car a new haunt before 4 p.m. today. 📷 Once the Halloween fun begins, C Street will be closed to vehicle traffic, and any cars still parked along the street will need to stay put until the event is over and the street reopens. Thanks for helping us make it safe for our littlest trick-or-treaters!

“Home means Nevada, Home means the hills, Home means the sage and the pines. Out by the Truckee's silvery rills, Out where the sun always shines, There is the land that I love the best, Fairer than all I can see. Right in the heart of the golden west Home, means Nevada to me.” We want to wish everyone a very Happy Nevada Day! In observance of Nevada Day, all Storey County offices will be closed today, Oct. 30, 2026. This special day commemorates the Silver State's admission to the Union and celebrates our rich state history.

Your dog called. They said you forgot something. 💩🐕 We love dogs. Big dogs, little dogs, fluffy dogs, dogs who think they're people. We love them all! What we don't love? Finding their little "presents" on the sidewalks and streets of Virginia City. So, here's your friendly reminder: If your dog drops it, you scoop it! Bring a bag, pick up after your pup, and help keep Storey County streets clean. Your neighbors (and their shoes) thank you! Alt Text: Image of a Dalmatian dog holding a red telephone.

Starting Oct. 26, 2026, Construction Materials Engineer, Inc. will conduct geotechnical work on Cartwright Road between State Route 341 and Fire Station 72 in the Virginia City Highlands. The work will help inform design recommendations for the Cartwright Road project. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the work area, with flaggers directing drivers. Please plan for delays and use caution around crews and equipment. Thank you to Highlands residents for your patience while crews work in the area.
