Beavers are the Swiss Army knife of re wilding. Good not only for a myriad of other species, fish, insects, birds and mammals - but also good for flood and drought prevention. We need a Beaver national program I reckon. We just released some into East Sussex, for the first time in 400 years. They got straight to work, what they do is amazing.

12th August is the start of the shooting season on the innocent red grouse, although many other species are slaughtered to create space for them.

A major victory for calves and other farmed animals in Europe!🐄🎉
Brittany Ferries has announced that it will end the transport of all live farmed animals on its ferries from September 2026.
This landmark decision follows more than a year of campaigning alongside fellow animal welfare organisations. Together with hundreds of thousands of supporters, we called for an end to the cruel live animal transport trade and today, we've shown that change is possible.
💚 A huge thank you to everyone who signed, shared, spoke out and stood with us. This victory belongs to you.
By stepping away from live animal transport, Brittany Ferries has shown that animal welfare can come before profit. Their decision will spare countless animals from long, stressful journeys and sets an important precedent for the industry.
But our work isn't over.
🚛 Irish Ferries is now the only ferry operator transporting unweaned calves from Ireland to France. We urge them to follow Brittany Ferries' lead and end their role in this unnecessary suffering.

This bloke isn’t wrong - about the plain fact of a climate crisis and the urgency with which we need to act.
But he is wrong on the balance - millions of people in our country are in poverty, allocating £50Bn to Net Zero policies rather than spending that money on the green economy, on job creation and cost of living reductions - is a big mistake of the previous government. The worst part of such an approach is we lose the support of the people and an anti climate party moves into no 10 - and abandons Net Zero altogether. Car targets are a good example of what can appear as net zero masochism - electric cars are already cheaper to own and now also to buy, the move away from petrol and diesel is driven by economics, we don’t need to drive it harder. We need to be pragmatic on Net Zero - in fact ditch the term and focus on the green economy, through which we get jobs, GDP growth and cost of living reductions - and emissions reduction are icing on the cake.
Not the headline goal, a fringe benefit.
