Best Thursday night game ever?

Just finished a long-running home league auction draft, and I have some thoughts, disordered as they may be. First, the obvious superiority of auction style drafting. I've talked about it before, but to review:

Auction, unlike snake drafts, have no safety net There is a potential to absolutely fail an auction draft, essentially dooming your season They require knowledge of fantasy "theory", player database, discipline, and organization at a level I do not associate with snake leagues

That all being said, an in-person auction with a long-standing home league is the absolute epitome of fantasy football. There is no form of fantasy that can compete with that experience.

Clock time ⏳ You can see how much time league mates take when they are on the clock during a draft 👀

This is my least favorite time of year on Fantasy Twitter. All the snake draft single-QB redraft "experts" log back in and act like the last 6-months never existed; spouting draft strategy as if auction isn't better and redraft takes as if dynasty wasn't even a thing.

And yet auction draft viability remains unaffected.

Dynasty is about more than building a roster. You’re building a league ecosystem. Communication. Engagement. Good competition. Good attitudes. Without those things, even the best league settings aren’t worth much. The people are what make a dynasty league last.
