Grateful to @BrianLehrer for his inspiring framing on how #NYCSchools are embracing the opportunity & challenges of educating tens of thousands of #Migrant new students on today, the first day of school. #NYC has done this for #migrant students for hundreds of years. We got this.

And our work is not yet done. As states like Florida continue to roll back the presence of African American and LGBTQ+ voices in public schools, it’s essential for advocates in California and beyond to keep up the fight for curriculum that includes all of our communities.

California just passed a historic bill that will bring Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander American histories into K-12 curriculum. This is a huge victory for students, teachers, and educators alike — and will help confront hate and bigotry in and out of the classroom.
Thank you Governor @GavinNewsom for signing #AB1354, to include AANHPI history in our K-12 curriculum frameworks! When students learn about the many contributions of and the discrimination against our communities, it builds belonging and respect.
YES!! Let’s make history by urging Gov Newsom to sign this historic bill to address #CasteDiscrimination in the nation’s largest state.

Today is the 9th anniversary of Mike Brown’s killing.
He would be alive today if the institutions of racism and white supremacy were eradicated.
He should be alive today.
We will never forget.
We will continue to fight for justice and accountability.

Unsurprised but still devastated by the #SCOTUS ruling today on #AffirmativeAction. The #SupremeCourt thinks race doesn’t matter. We know better. Asian Americans refuse to be wedged vs other communities of color. #RaceMatters #DefendDiversity #AffirmOpportunity

We’re in NJ to advocate the #DomesticWorkersBillofRights that establishes regulations b/w the employer and the domestic worker. It helps document:
📍work hours
📍wages
📍duties
📍paid leave
📍health and safety protections.
It recognizes domestic workers like any other worker.
