From South Carolina to Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, and across the South—Black voters showed up in record numbers. They tried to gut the Voting Rights Act and redraw districts to erase Black representation. We answered. This is the start of a movement to redeem the American Dream. Let’s get to work.

And Stacey Abrams, we could not have this victory in Georgia tonight without your tireless work in making voting fair and accessible to everyone. Your own campaign laid the groundwork for Keisha Lance Bottoms! Congrats Georgia! Ya'll DID THAT!
OPINION: Eight Black women took center stage eight years after Stacey Abrams built a campaign Georgia never imagined possible.

History has been made in the U.S. Virgin Islands!
Stacey Plaskett has been elected governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, becoming the first Black woman elected governor of any U.S. state or territory. She will also become the first woman elected to lead the territory in more than five decades.
Since 2015, Plaskett has represented the Virgin Islands in Congress, making history as the first territorial delegate appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee. She also served as an impeachment manager during Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial in 2021.
Congratulations to Governor-elect Stacey Plaskett and Lieutenant Governor-elect Milton Potter!
Dear Stacey Abrams,
This moment is dedicated to YOU.
Before Keisha Lance Bottoms made history as the first Black woman elected governor in America, you dared to show us that it was possible.
You ran when the road was uncertain. You stood tall when the outcome wasn’t what we’d hoped. And instead of allowing defeat to define your story, you continued the work of making sure our voices were heard.
Your courage, your grace, your commitment to voting rights, and your power to organize helped lay the groundwork for a Georgia that looks different today.
And while we celebrate this historic victory and the wave of change sweeping across the country, we cannot forget the women who helped make moments like this possible.
Stacey, we see you. We thank you. And we give you your flowers.

I keep seeing people call Cardi lightskin but she’s a non-black Latina. Neither of her parents are Black or African. Early in her career she said in an interview “I like to date black men bc I like to date outside my race” please stop insulting my intelligence.

The fact that Cardi got an apology is colourism
"MONA SPEAKS ON CARDI B DRAMA: 'IT MAKES ME FEEL HORRIBLE'"
Mona: "I apologize. I DM'd Cardi when she first said anything because, like I said on the pod, like I really didn't think that she would like be heard or upset about it and that never was my intention."
Mona: "Like her saying that I'm the cause of her being dragged right now, like that shit makes me feel horrible. Like I wouldn't want nobody to experience that shit."
Joe Budden: "I think it was big of you to apologize."
Joe Budden: "You just want to always make sure that your words and your actions are in alignment, right?"
Joe Budden: "I feel like we could have had the colorism conversation sans Cardi, right? That's a bigger conversation to be had. So to make her the poster child of it, which I'm again, wasn't your intention."
Mona: "If I knew that that clip was edited, that clip was either, even if it wasn't edited, if I knew it was that old, it would have been a total different response from me."
Mona: "I just got to step the fuck up and get on some real drill. I know people probably hear this like, 'Duh, you should research everything you talk about,' but the truth is people don't. So um I, speaking for me, I just got to tighten up like that, because this was avoidable."
Mona acknowledges the backlash, apologizes to Cardi B, and admits that doing more research could have prevented the controversy.
