ICE agents are not targeting violent criminals. They are racially profiling our Latino residents -- grabbing people because of how they look, the way they speak, or where they work. This is an assault on our entire Latino community and this federal judge cites a ‘mountain of evidence’ proving it.
I welcome the Judge’s order, but we all know that as long as ICE roams our streets, our residents’ rights will continue to be violated.

These attacks by the Trump administration are meant to undermine confidence in our midterm elections, but we know the strength of the system we’ve built. LA County has invested in one of the most secure and robust election systems in the nation, and now we are fighting to protect the rights of our voters.
If you haven’t voted yet, I urge you to vote early. Our election system is secure, and the results will reflect the will of LA County voters.

Dolores Huerta was an extraordinarily strong person. As a young woman she had the courage to lead the movement for the rights of farmworkers. In her later years, she demonstrated even greater courage to tell the truth about the abuse she herself had suffered in that movement.
When I was growing up, most of our major civil rights leaders were men. I remember how powerful it was to see Dolores Huerta be equally strong and equally impactful. She showed generations of women what leadership could look like.
We were lucky to have her in the fight for as long as we did. Her legacy will live on in the lives she changed and the movement she helped to build.
Theo has wanted a bench at her bus stop at 39th and Pacific in San Pedro for years.
When I heard about her request, I reached out to the Mayor’s office, and at my urging, they installed it.
Too many of our bus stops don’t have benches. I’m grateful to the City of LA for working with my office to get this bench installed for Theo, and I will continue to do everything I can to make sure our transit system is accessible for all.

Had the pleasure this morning of joining Peninsula Seniors as part of their Bohannon Lecture Series. We talked about the work I’m doing in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, why we need a water taxi for the 2028 Olympics and answered their questions about my work and the County.
.@AsmMikeGipson has dedicated his life to serving the people of California, and I know he will continue that service even after his time in the State Assembly comes to an end.
Thank you, Mike, for being an incredible friend and partner for all these years.
I’m in Norwalk today for a State of the State update from someone who is not only a tremendous public servant, but also a very dear friend of mine, @SenBobArchuleta. When Bob asked me to be part of this special occasion, there was absolutely no hesitation on my part.
It’s great to join friends and partners from across Bob’s 30th Senate District for a chance to hear about the challenges facing California, the progress being made in Sacramento, and Bob's vision for the future of our state.
This is voter intimidation and a blatant attempt to undermine trust in our midterm elections.
These arrests are being used to paint a picture of widespread voter fraud when we know that is not the case. California has laws in place to protect the integrity of our elections, and LA County is fully abiding by them.
I urge everyone not to let these tactics keep you from exercising your right to vote. Vote early and remember that you can safely cast your ballot from home with your vote-by-mail ballot or safely drop your ballot at a ballot drop box.
Federal law enforcement activity was underway in the Commerce area Monday morning as part of the U.S. Department of Justice's statewide "Operation Protect the Vote" initiative.
Authorities said more than two dozen arrests have been made in connection with allegations that noncitizens registered to vote.

I’m horrified and angry. This is thuggish behavior, plain and simple. ICE agents are brutalizing immigrants and US citizens alike. They ran a man down with their car, pinned him to the ground, and broke his arm.
This is not law enforcement. These ICE agents are undertrained and abusive and they must be withdrawn from LA County and every American city.
A U.S. citizen was hospitalized with serious injuries after federal immigration agents reportedly used a Taser on him during a violent detention in Long Beach on Saturday, sparking outrage among neighbors and local elected officials. ktla.com/news/local-news/us-…
