I wrote a compiler for Game Boy, NES, Master System and Game Gear:
Now I just tell an AI "make me a Snake" and go make coffee. ☕🐍
One source, four consoles, real ROMs, and the agent plays them in an emulator to check they work before I'm even back.
Try it. Seriously. 👇
Paste this into Claude Code, Codex or whatever agent you use:
"Make a Snake game for Game Boy, NES, Master System and Game Gear with RetroSharp. It's a .NET tool on NuGet: dotnet tool install --global RetroSharp.Tool. Start with retrosharp --help."
Needs the .NET 10 SDK.
RetroSharp in action! Same source code, same assets, 4 different machines. The demo tries to recreate the first screen of Super Mario Bros. 2. *This is not the original game*. The best part? Seeing Mario jump around on a Master System and a Game Gear.

Where does all the hate for AI come from?
Some people are scared, but it’s more than that
It seems like someone has been ramping up the anti-AI PR over the last six months
Many people just hate it and don’t have a reason
You too, @godotengine?
I have 19 patches to Godot engine that improve performance and stability, fix many bugs, add much better support for HOTAS, and add optional instrumentation and better profiling support.
They’re pretty good. I spend time on this stuff and don’t want slop in my code base.
But they don’t want them, because I used AI.
That’s okay. I’m glad Godot is open source!
But it does make me wonder how many of these types of quality engine patches are living out in the wild and not able to be submitted due to this policy.
And yes, I could rewrite them by hand and submit them. But the friction is just high enough that I don’t really want to. So they will have to discover and fix this issues themselves.

I have the feeling Pop!_OS and @COSMIC_desktop are falling behind. Issues seem to be piling up faster than they're getting fixed, and with their policy of not accepting AI-assisted contributions, I can only see that gap widening.
Linux hardware vendor, System76, has banned all AI generated contributions to their Cosmic Desktop Environment (part of the Pop!_OS Linux distribution).
All contributors must agree to the following when submitting any changes:
“I have not included any LLM (also known as AI) generated content in this PR, including code, comments, and descriptions.”
I'm sorry, but I still think this is black magic. I don't trust this guy anymore.
