ALT A wonderful evening at University College Dublin, discussing my opera Dante at the Trapdoor Theatre. My sincere thanks to Dr Ciarán Crilly and Dr Serena Laiena for such a thoughtful conversation, and to everyone who joined us for Dante’s Inferno: Reloaded. It was a pleasure to revisit the work in this setting and to see the exhibition of student work alongside excerpts from the opera. Very grateful to UCD for the warm welcome — and always lovely to be back in Ireland. 🇮🇪 — Patrick Cassidy #PatrickCassidy #Dante #Opera #DanteOpera #UniversityCollegeDublin

ALT Wonderful to see and hear Ceol na Mara Chamber Orchestra performing my Mairseail Righ Lir (King Lir’s March), from my Irish-language cantata The Children of Lir, at King John’s Castle, Limerick. It was a great honour to have the piece included in the Official Opening Ceremony of the 2026 European Sport for All Games. My sincere thanks to Oonagh Keogh, conductor and director of Ceol na Mara, for preparing and conducting the performance, and to every one of these talented young musicians for the care, energy and commitment they brought to the music. Congratulations to you all on a wonderful performance. - Patrick Cassidy #PatrickCassidy #TheChildrenOfLir #CeolNaMara #YouthOrchestra #EuropeanSportForAllGames

ALT I had the pleasure of speaking with Patrick O’Donoghue for The Sunday Times Ireland about screen time, AI-created music, young composers, and the future of classical music. At a time when music is everywhere, the deeper challenge is to protect the conditions in which music is truly learned and imagined: attention, discipline, listening, patience, and a love of music itself. AI may become another tool, but music remains a human act — shaped by memory, silence, experience, breath, and the desire to communicate something true. We also spoke about Vide Cor Meum, film scoring, and my current sacred work, Via Crucis. My thanks to Patrick O’Donoghue and The Sunday Times Ireland for the conversation. - Patrick Cassidy #PatrickCassidy #TheSundayTimesIreland #ClassicalMusic #Composer #AIAndMusic

ALT Mairseáil Rígh Lir / King Lir’s March by Patrick Cassidy will be included in the Next Generation Afternoon Concert with Ceol na Mara Chamber Orchestra at the Killaloe Music Festival next weekend. Performed by young musicians from local music schools, the concert celebrates the next generation of performers and the strength of music education in the community. It is always meaningful to see Patrick’s music placed in the hands of young musicians, and we send warmest wishes to Oonagh Keogh, Ceol na Mara Chamber Orchestra, and all the performers for a wonderful concert. 📍 Killaloe Catholic Church, Killaloe 📅 Saturday 30 May 🕒 3.00 PM Free admission Photo: Patrick Cassidy with Oonagh Keogh and Ceol na Mara Chamber Orchestra, taken last year. #PatrickCassidy #CeolNaMara #MairseailRighLir #KillaloeFestival #ClassicalMusic
