It's always a pleasure to welcome people who care about making a difference in our community! 💙
A heartfelt thank you to the team at @SwRI taking the time to visit Texas Diaper Bank and learn more about the work we do to support families, children, and seniors across Texas.
SwRI has a long history of giving back to the San Antonio community, and we're grateful for the opportunity to connect, share our mission, and introduce their team to the people and families behind the work we do every day.
Thank you for spending time with us, SwRI! We truly appreciate your interest and support for our mission.

Scott Bolton spent years sending a spacecraft to Jupiter, only to discover how much scientists had gotten wrong. He was thrilled.
As principal investigator of @NASAJuno, Scott helped guide a spacecraft across nearly five years of travel.
When it arrived in July 2016, Jupiter confounded expectations. Winds extended thousands of kilometers beneath the clouds. Its core appeared diffuse. Enormous cyclones gathered at the poles in geometric arrangements.

How do you test the future before you build it?
Meet ALTRIOS: the world's FIRST validated, open-source digital twin for freight rail.
BNSF partnered with the @NatLabRockies, @SwRI, @UofIllinois, and the @UTAustin, to develop the platform.
ALTRIOS helps researchers and planners simulate real-world operations, evaluate emerging technologies and make informed long-term investment decisions, giving the industry a powerful tool to evaluate what’s next for the industry.
ALTRIOS recently won an R&D 100 Award, honoring some of the most innovative technologies of the past year.
We’re proud to be a contributor to this groundbreaking platform!

#PPOD: Pluto’s Majestic Mountains, Frozen Plains and Foggy Hazes 🌫️
Just 15 minutes after its closest approach to Pluto on July 14, 2015, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft looked back toward the sun and captured this near-sunset view of the rugged, icy mountains and flat ice plains extending to Pluto's horizon.
The smooth expanse of the informally named icy plain Sputnik Planum (right) is flanked to the west (left) by rugged mountains up to 3,500 meters high, including the informally named Norgay Montes in the foreground and Hillary Montes on the skyline.
To the right, east of Sputnik, rougher terrain is cut by apparent glaciers. The backlighting highlights more than a dozen layers of haze in Pluto's tenuous but distended atmosphere.

SwRI study finds evidence of liquid recently flowing on Pluto’s surface

ALT A new study led by Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) posits that liquid nitrogen is rising to Pluto’s surface through cracks in the northern edge of the Sputnik Planitia, part of the massive heart-shaped glacier on the dwarf planet’s surface. This is the first evidence of liquid flowing currently on Pluto. For scale, Pluto is about 3/4ths as wide as the continental United States.
