This dude gets it. You’re not trying to find the piece of hay in the needle stack. Fuck it. And the hay will bitch and complain and say you’re full of hate and a fed and whatever but just let it burn

Everyone talks about AI replacing artists.
Nobody talks about the people it turned into artists.
People who had stories in their head for years but never the hands, the time, or the money for school.
That's not the end of art. That's more of it.

Joe Rogan on Kanye West: “They killed his bank accounts.”
“Adidas backed away.”
“And it cost them billions.”
“The next thing you know, the dude’s selling out enormous stadiums.”
“The dude’s nothing but bangers.”
“For fucking decades.”
“He has a gift.”
“At some point … they must have just given up on trying to cancel him.”
Colum Tyrrell: “He’s definitely one of the most talented—”
Rogan: “Ever.”
“There’s a creative storm inside of his brain that’s just flying out of him all the time.”
“That dude had a diamond-encrusted swastika made.”
“He made Heil Hitler … and he apologized for that.”
“All brilliant people like that that are that good are going to be insane.”
“When you talk to him, it’s like his words are barely contained inside of his mouth.”
“They didn’t just ignore him.”

I miss the early 2010s internet. The avalanche of independent content kicked ass compared to the heavily manipulated stuff the algorithm hits you with now.
There’s an interesting moment in a discussion when someone stops explaining their reasoning and starts explaining how many people agree with them.
The conversation is no longer about whether the idea makes sense.
It’s about how much validation the idea received.
But agreement doesn’t replace reasoning.
And having an audience doesn’t automatically make someone an authority.

Orwell's great observation in "Nineteen Eighty-Four" was that to shrink a person's vocabulary is to shrink his capacity to think.
An impoverished version of English removes the mental tools needed to formulate and communicate complex (and dissenting) ideas. Such is the deep, complex relationship between language and thought.
We don't read "difficult books" to say that we've read difficult books. We read them because they expand the boundaries of what we are capable of thinking and feeling — we ascend to their level. Vocabulary helps us to recognize truths otherwise beyond our grasp.
This revelation is worse than you may think. This must be reversed.
I am speechless. Thomas Aquinas College just dropped a study on the rigor of the new SAT.
It compares the 1980/87 test with 2026. The findings should terrify every parent and teacher...
Vocabulary has collapsed.
Old SAT: 70.6% of questions tested vocab.
New SAT: 15%.
The old test forced students to know a wide range of words through analogies, antonyms, and sentence completions. The new test abandoned that. Most vocab questions now just ask students to fill in one blank from context.
Reading passages also got radically shorter (average ~97 words vs 300–340).
The new test uses short expository passages and hands you the necessary background knowledge inside the text. The older tests leaned much more heavily on argumentative and persuasive writing, assumed far more historical, scientific, and cultural knowledge, and penalized students who lacked it.
This is a redefinition of what "college readiness" means.
If you believe that kids should develop rigorous vocabulary, be capable of sustained reading, and possess background knowledge, I have bad news for you. The SAT no longer measures these.
If you want a future where children can actually read difficult texts and construct complex arguments, the SAT must be replaced now.
This cannot go on.

Gavin Newsom went on Jimmy Kimmel and laughed about a "blue tsunami" ending Trump's presidency.
Then he posted, "We're going to kick Donald Trump's ass next week."
This is the governor of a state with the highest homeless population in America.
People are leaving California by the hundreds of thousands.
Gas prices are some of the highest in the country.
And he's on late-night TV laughing about winning elections.
If he can't fix California, why would anyone let him near the rest of America?

A lot of artists are bitter, envious and resentful towards AI for a number of reasons. One complaint I keep seeing is:
"I spent hours drawing this, why does some genAI image get more likes than mine?"
Frankly, this is loser mentality. You're chasing likes, approval and validation from complete strangers on the internet, then getting upset because somebody else received more attention than you.
And before anyone comes in with "at least I can draw", nobody is disputing that. Drawing is a skill, and one worth having. But being able to draw doesn't mean you're owed an audience.
If you're genuinely proud of your craft, why are you letting a bunch of strangers and a number on a screen determine what it's worth?

Some people act like you need permission from established artists before your opinion about music becomes valid. Music belongs to everybody who listens, creates, studies or cares about it. Fame doesn't give anyone a monopoly on opinions.
