Hackers turn up the heat in Europe's frozen food aisles, again - Tech
AI is finding its way into more systems, including those we may not immediately associate with it.
As AI adoption grows, how do we ensure its use is properly governed and potential risks are addressed?
AI governance needs to be part of the conversation.

BREAKING: Estonia is now the latest country hit by a cyberattack targeting supermarket refrigeration systems, following incidents reported this morning in Belgium, Sweden, and Luxembourg.
Hackers reportedly accessed the control system of a large supermarket chain and remotely raised a freezer's temperature to +50°C.
According to Kitman Coldtech CEO Jann Mutso, several clients in Estonia have been targeted. The attack exploited vulnerabilities in older refrigeration controllers.
The incident was detected and addressed within approximately 10 minutes, preventing major damage.
Major Estonian supermarket chains reportedly using the affected technology include Selver, Rimi, Coop, and Lidl.

The UK will ban under-16s from platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat from March next year, but how will they go about it?
Ofcom has now recommended four methods it says are highly effective.
The government will decide by the end of the year, but concerns remain over whether children can bypass the ban.
Good questions to ask. The real test is whether an AI agent’s actions can be controlled, reviewed and accounted for, not just whether it works as intended.

Strengthen your password security:
• Use strong, unique passwords.
• Enable multi-factor authentication.
• Remove access when staff leave.
• Monitor suspicious activity.
Password security is a business responsibility, not just an employee habit.

Day 27: Avoid Unknown Removable Storage Devices
Keep your Cyber diet clean 👀
Not every cybersecurity threat comes through the internet. Some can enter your computer through physical devices, including USB drives, external hard drives, and memory cards. Connecting an untrusted device can expose your system to malware or other security threats.
Imagine a friend gives you a USB drive containing a presentation they need you to review. That innocent device could contain malicious files that put your device and data at risk.
Quick Tip: Only use removable storage devices from trusted sources and scan them with approved security tools where appropriate.
Before connecting a USB drive to your computer, what steps should you take to ensure it is safe to use?
Throughout the month of October, I will be engaging in a 31 days Cybersecurity Diet as part of my contribution to the conversations regarding Cybersecurity Awareness.
Each day, I will post a basic Cybersecurity topic, share few tips and ask a question. I want to encourage everyone doing Cybersecurity to join me by using the Cybersecurity diet to also educate people about basic Cybersecurity awareness. Let’s continue to spread the word and support the ecosystem to reduce Cybersecurity breaches 💪
