First practical of Y10 hospitality and catering ✅ The year 10’s had a taste of French cuisine this morning learning some new chopping techniques. We can’t wait to see what they do next! 👩🏻‍🍳

From the workshop to the kitchen.. Year 7’s building prototypes of their biomimicry inspired chairs. 🪑 Meanwhile, Year 9’s have been in the kitchens making a balanced breakfast recipe. 👨🏼‍🍳 Good work, future designers and chefs!

Meanwhile year 7’s were learning the secrets of prototypes using nets to make 3D forms, leading up to creating their own prototypes of biomimicry inspired chairs! #Futuredesigners

Students in year 9 took a visit to Leeds City College as part of their empower trip today. A highlight was being able to control a robot that had been made on campus. 🤖 Brilliant to see the career options available in design and technology! 👏🏼

Y7 working hard in food technology this morning looking at different diets, including those followed for medical, religious or personal ethics reasons. Fantastic prior knowledge on ethics and morality crossing over from @TAL_Humanities led to great questions and discussion!

This week, year 8’s have been getting technical with CAD software @Onshape to design their own desklamp. 🖥️ Using both guided and independant practice, they were able to problem solve and design the base of their lamp successfully in 3D ✅

Beautiful work by year 9 on their ‘design for life’ unit. Using the iterative design process to design a final product to aid a member of our local community to improve their quality of life. #futuredesigners ✏️
