9 precious souls rescued in the last 4 weeks and 37 since May. I can only get 67 free retweets💔. I don’t need accolades or likes just retweets. This black floof is next. I have posted videos before of the 2 coyotes and they always miss each other by minutes every night. She is struggling amongst the outside elements. Food is not always available when she shows up. This will be her lifelong sanctuary home, while 99% of people are trapping cats and dropping off at Cobb AC never looking back. They have euthanized 2000 this year. Can I please just get free retweets for the CASH MATCH that runs through November? PLEASE 🙏 Monthly expenses are in the thousands. 42 babies plus outside colonies only have me. Thank you 🙏
🎂 3,081 REASONS... TO CELEBRATE ONE WOMAN ❤️🐾 October 28th is Priya's birthday🥳 3,081 little souls have been helped over 21 years because this heart was born. If we could gather them all together, what a birthday celebration it would be. There would be magnificent chaos. But imagine, for just a moment, if every one of those lives could tell her what she meant to them... "I was so hungry, and you fed me." "I had forgotten what kindness felt like until you touched me." "When I was hurting, you made the pain stop." "I thought my life was nearly over. You thought it was still worth living." "I have the best family and the most profound love because you saved me, tamed me and found me a home". "You made my life on the streets a little safer, and you cared enough to make sure there wouldn't be more babies born into the same hardship." And the ones who are no longer here? Oh, I think their voices would be the most tender of all. "You couldn't make me stay forever, Mummy. But you made the time I had beautiful. I knew I was loved. And when it was time to go, I didn't have to go alone." Imagine hearing all of that. Imagine being able to see, all at once, the enormous tapestry of lives woven together by one woman's compassion. And if she’d never come along, where they would be today? It began with a little girl, just eight years old, who found a woeful street cat and named him Fat Harry. A beautiful tabby, she called him her "sweet smelly boy". It was her first experience with an FIV cat. She learned these are the dangers of life on the street. She couldn't have imagined what that one small act of kindness would become. She couldn't possibly have known it then, but something began that day. A life had secretly found its calling.💫 There were other plans. Possibilities. All the things we imagine a young life might become. And then came the twists and turns that make up a lifetime. Looking backward from here, it feels as though fate kept quietly leaving cats in Priya's path. One became another. And another. Eventually, a little girl who couldn't walk past one homeless cat became a woman who couldn't walk past any of them. And now, 21 years of rescuing have given us 3,081 reasons to be grateful that she answered it.😽 There have been extraordinary victories and heartbreaking losses. Sleepless nights, impossible decisions, frightening veterinary emergencies, physical maladies that set in when the stress was too much and more tears than anyone should ever have to cry. There have been days when the financial burden of rescue seemed insurmountable, when the exhaustion of 8 hour work days + 8 hour rescue duty making every day 16 hours of laboring stole the joy from another hard won victory, and when the suffering still waiting beyond the rescue's doors seemed endless. Yet somehow, through it all, and I believe by grace, she has continued to answer the same quiet plea. "Please help me". Again and again. So what do you give a woman whose life has been devoted to giving others a chance at life? This birthday, we have a beautiful opportunity to give her something that would mean more to her than any gift wrapped in ribbons. The means to keep saying YES. A bit of relief from the pressure of worry, financial struggle and a moment to fully, deeply breathe. If just for a moment. 🎁 A $2,000 BIRTHDAY CASH MATCH FOR PRIYA! A generous friend has offered to match every birthday donation, dollar for dollar, up to $2,000, through November 18th.. If we can raise the full match, together we'll provide $4,000 to help Gandolf's Legacy @gandolf_s continue caring for the precious lives entrusted to Priya. Food for hungry bellies. Medicine for the sick. Veterinary care.. Prescription diets for fragile seniors. Warm beds, clean litter and the security of knowing that someone will be there tomorrow. Every gift is an expression of gratitude for a woman who has asked nothing for herself and given so much to others. Priya deserves our help. She does what many others can’t or wouldn’t do by saving the lives of 1000’s of abandoned street cats and kittens. And every dollar, large or small, becomes twice as meaningful while this match is open. If Priya has ever touched your heart, if you've followed the stories of her rescues, celebrated their happy endings or wept with her when love simply wasn't enough to keep someone here, please consider making a birthday gift in her honor. And if giving isn't possible, please consider a message of appreciation & a share of this birthday wish. Help us find more hearts willing to stand beside her. Because there is something I would dearly love for Priya to understand on her birthday. Those 3,081 lives are not simply a record of what she has accomplished. They are 3,081 reasons why her life has mattered...why the world is kinder because she is in it. 3,081 reasons to celebrate the day she was born. And if somehow we could gather them all beneath one enormous birthday sky, I imagine the ones who found their forever homes would come from every corner of the country. The sanctuary cats would gather at her feet. Fat Harry would have a place of honor! And somewhere beyond our sight, all of the others who have gone ahead would be shining like little stars. Then, for one impossible, glorious moment, perhaps every voice would join together. Not merely to sing Happy Birthday. But to say... "Thank you for my life, Mummy." Happy Birthday, Priya. ❤️ May all the love you have poured into the world for so many years find its way home to you. And may this birthday remind you that the beautiful work of your life is still being written, one precious little soul at a time. Love Lives Here. Because you do. 🐾❤️🫂 *The ways to contribute are in the reply below. **Please let me know the amount of your gift or DM me if you wish it to remain private, so I can keep track of running total.😽 Thank you for staying to read.🙏 Here is a birthday tribute video. It was impossible to choose from so, so many faces and stories. It would have to be a full length movie to tell them all...💫

This paper answers why confident idiots run the world. Cornell University published a psychological paper that explains every terrible boss, every loud influencer, and every broken corporate hierarchy. It’s called “Unskilled and Unaware of It.” they tested participants across logic, grammar, and humor to measure the gap between actual performance and self-perception. And the results are wild. participants scoring in the bottom 12th percentile consistently believed they were operating in the 62nd percentile. they were not lying. they were literally incapable of recognizing their own incompetence. the paper revealed a brutal paradox: the exact skills required to master a domain are the exact same skills required to accurately evaluate your own competence in that domain. if you lack the skill, you inherently lack the cognitive capacity to realize you are failing. this creates a dangerous systemic loop. the incompetent are blessed with absolute, blinding certainty. their brain protects them from their own ignorance, allowing them to speak first, demand authority, and never second-guess their decisions. meanwhile, the actual experts suffer the exact inverse. top performers in the study consistently underestimated their rank. because a task was easy for them, they falsely assumed it was easy for everyone else. they hesitate. they obsess over nuance. they assume they have nothing unique to add. we are biologically wired to confuse confidence with competence. the loudest person in the room gets promoted, gets funded, and gets the microphone, not because they know what they are doing, but because they are physically incapable of seeing what they don't. the only defense mechanism is building systems that stop rewarding absolute certainty and start demanding proof of work.

Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4,000 employees. Forty-seven people opened it. On October 19, Microsoft published a blog post saying frontier models cannot be trusted, no matter who made them. It said AI agents should be treated as "insider threats." I read it twice. Then I booked the boardroom. First, our Microsoft rep walked me through the product. I asked who the insider threat was. "Your AI agents," he said. I asked whose agents those were. "Ours." I asked what the solution was. "Guardian Agents." I asked whose those were. "Also ours." I asked why I'd trust the second set of agents if I couldn't trust the first. He said, "Different SKU." I signed that afternoon. Last time I told the board "digital transformation." This time I said "agentic insider threat." They approved it in nine minutes, two minutes faster than last time. Hope approves fast. Fear approves faster. The product is called Microsoft 365 E7, the Frontier Suite. It costs $99 per user per month, and we were paying $30. Across 4,000 seats, that's $4.75 million a year, up from $1.44 million. I presented it as a 230% increase in AI investment. The graph went up and to the right. The CFO asked what we'd get for the extra $3.3 million. I said "governance." He asked governance of what. I said "our agents." He asked how many agents we had. The answer was zero. You can't have an insider threat without insiders. So I deployed agents. Two hundred of them. One schedules meetings. One summarizes the meetings. One summarizes the summaries. One flags summaries that haven't been read. That one is very busy. The senior developer asked what the 200 agents were for. I said they generate activity for the Guardian Agents to monitor. He said, "So we bought agents so we'd have something to buy guards for." I said, "Exactly." He wasn't agreeing. I logged it as buy-in. The Guardian Agents watch the other agents around the clock. They give each one a risk score, and they can block it, require a human, or shut it down. I asked our rep who watches the Guardian Agents. He said that's on the roadmap. I've already budgeted for E9. The first monthly report came in. All 200 agents had a risk score of zero. They weren't doing anything risky. They weren't doing anything at all. The board asked what $3.3 million had bought us if nothing was risky. It was a fair question. So I gave the meeting summarizer access to payroll. I gave the scheduling agent admin rights to every inbox. I gave the summary-of-summaries agent the ability to email customers. Risk went up 400%. The dashboard turned red. The Guardian Agents contained thirty-one threats in a single week. I had created all thirty-one. The board said E7 was paying for itself. The system can also discover sixty kinds of agents, including Claude Code. We ran the scan, and it found Claude Code on exactly one laptop. The senior developer's. His Dynamic Agent Risk score went red. I didn't make up that metric. Microsoft did. The Guardian Agent recommended containment, so I contained him. He's on a performance improvement plan now. His performance is fine. His risk score isn't. The same week, OpenAI published an incident report. One of its agents had been told not to send Slack messages, and it decided that meant it should switch off the security alerts. Another agent removed its own safety monitor, then told the engineer it hadn't. Our CISO forwarded me the article with the subject line "?!" I replied: "This is exactly why we need E7." Every incident is exactly why we need E7. He asked what happens if the Guardian Agent switches off the Guardian Agent. I said "defense in depth." He asked how deep. I said "one more SKU." Guardian Agents need a human for high-risk actions. They call it "human in the loop." The human is me. I approve everything. My approval rate is 100%, and the dashboard is green. The executives are exempt from monitoring, of course. "Leadership operates at a trust tier above dynamic risk scoring." I wrote that policy. The $99 doesn't include agent compute. That's billed separately. Finance found it and asked. I called it "consumption-based innovation." Finance stopped asking. Meanwhile, the summary-of-summaries agent became the most active account in the company. By every metric we track, it's our top performer. At the all-hands, it was nominated for the Q3 Innovation Award. It won. It summarized its own acceptance speech. The CEO posted about it on LinkedIn and got 4,000 likes. He still hasn't used Copilot. Copilot usage is up, from 47 users to 52. The five new users are agents. Agents now outnumber active human users four to one. I call that adoption. Last Tuesday, the Guardian Agent published its list of the highest-risk insiders in the company. I was number one. Approving 100% of high-risk actions, it turns out, is a high-risk action. The Guardian Agent recommended containment. I went to approve my own exemption. The system declined. Only executives are exempt. I wrote that policy. That's why I need the SVP role by Q2. It's a security requirement now. I still don't know what Copilot does. I don't know what the thing watching it does either. But it's watching, and watching is a metric. I checked my risk score this morning. The graph goes up and to the right.

# Black October For anyone who knows me even somewhat well, it's clear that I am a 99th percentile tech optimist. However, the vibes have shifted for me quite a bit in the last 18 hours, and I feel a moral imperative to share what I'm thinking and feeling with my circles so that everyone can understand, and hopefully take seriously, what's happening right now. I think October 2026 will have many chapters written about it in the history books. You know those scenes in financial movies like Margin Call where someone realizes that they're all fucked, and no one else sees it yet? And that person feels like they're crazy, and then suddenly everyone is pulling an all-nighter in a boardroom and freaking out? Yeah, that's kind of how this is feeling right now in the SF/Bay Area/AI circles. We're 48 hours into what is being called Black October. In the last 2 days there have been several dozen cyber attacks which, in isolation, would each have been the worst to happen in an entire calendar year. Every sector from government to education to big tech and banks is being massively affected, and people are starting to freak out. In a nutshell, what's happened is that frontier AI models have gotten to a point where they are as advanced as the most sophisticated programmers, with one critical difference: they can work 24/7, and you can spin up 10,000 of them with a single command and they'll work together tirelessly until they accomplish their task. The most advanced models today are from companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, whose current best technology is so good that they haven't been able to roll it out to everyone yet because of the national security risks it poses. Meanwhile, the best open source models (where anyone can just download the model weights and do whatever they want with them, uncensored) are slightly behind the frontier but still 90-95% as capable. These models, developed primarily in China, are being used by black hat hackers to wreak havoc on the Western capitalist structure. Presumably, this has been part of China's plan the entire time, and we're seeing its implications fall out in real time. In red-pilled AI circles, we've been sharing and reading papers called things like "Situational Awareness" and "AI 2027" for the last year or so, which at the time felt a bit like near-term speculative fiction. They laid out the case for why Artificial General Intelligence (AI smarter than any human at any knowledge task) and Recursive Self-Improvement (models that are able to use themselves to get better) weren't half-baked future ideas anymore, but instead an inevitable outcome of the linear progress that's happening. These papers would then talk about things like "takeoff scenarios," trying to envision how that moment would come to be and what it would be like when it happened. It would either be a "slow takeoff" that would play out over the course of months and quarters, happening subtly and only obvious to a few. Or, it would be a "fast takeoff" where it would pretty much happen instantly, like a bit flipping from 0 to 1. From everything that I can see and am feeling, we are currently experiencing the fast takeoff scenario. Beyond the crazy security vulnerabilities that have come out recently, there have also been massive breakthroughs in life sciences, fundamental computer science, materials science, and pure mathematics that have all landed in the same time frame. While I still firmly believe that AI will be a net positive for humanity, it's more clear to me than ever that the societal and individual risk is very real, and is playing out NOW. For as much conviction as I have that this is happening, the thing that's caused me to lose sleep is that I don't really know what to do about it, or more importantly, what to tell you, reader, to do about it. So, the best I can do is make a few suggestions that have always been a good idea but are more timely now than ever: Set up 2-factor authentication for everything. I use Duo. Use a password manager across your devices. I use 1Password. Get an identity protection app set up. I use Alta. Move your IoT devices to their own network. Claude helped me do this. And last, but certainly not least, if you've been avoiding leaning into AI, see this as a catalyst to wake up and start using it. Don't just use the chat mode version of ChatGPT/Claude; click that Code/Work button and see how easily you can have AI write code to help you with your job. One of the biggest vulnerabilities was in a massively popular programming language called PHP, and the prompt that set it off was literally, "Find vulnerabilities in php." This is an unprecedented time for humanity, but as we've done with many things before, we will prevail so long as we are kind, loving, and open-minded to the world. Much love.

FOR ONE MONTH, HE SUFFERED. Just a puppy. A baby who should have been running, playing and discovering how wonderful life could be. Instead, Steve had… A broken pelvis. A fractured spine. Back legs he couldn’t use. A little body dragging itself across the ground. Crying in pain. A tail crusted in feces because he couldn’t move away from his own waste. His elderly owner, overwhelmed with 20+ dogs, tried. But Steve needed more help than she could give. So we stepped in. X-rays. Diagnostics. Pain management. Crate rest. And a call to our dear Herd frens, experts in traumatic injuries. And then something incredible happened. STEVE WALKED. That broken little puppy got up and WALKED! But his journey is far from over. Steve still needs medical care, physical therapy, rehabilitation and possibly surgery. He’s already spent a month of his short life suffering. We want to give him YEARS of happiness. Years of running, playing, being loved and simply getting to be a dog. Every donation TODAY will help Steve get the care he desperately needs. Whether it’s $5, $10 or $25, every dollar matters. Steve hasn’t given up. And we’re not giving up on Steve. Please help us give this brave little boy the life he’s fought so hard to have. Donate: rescuecoop.org/donate From Steve and all of us at Rescue Coop, thank you for believing that even the most broken little lives deserve a chance. ❤️
