A flurry of people-centric announcements by TVK govt all in just 5 days - October 26–31 👏👏
✅ Family members of sanitation workers receive a 20% loan subsidy, up to ₹10,000, to start small businesses.
✅Minimum Auto-rickshaw fare revised to ₹50 for the first 1.8 km and ₹25 for every additional kilometre. First revision in 13 years.
✅Free bus travel extended to persons with 40% or more disability using UDID cards, including for one accompanying escort.
✅Basic wages and dearness allowance for Hamdloom workers increased by 10%. Approximately 74,000 to weavers benefit.
✅Ban on transporting rough stone, M-sand and other construction aggregates to neighbouring states extended for another three months, until January 26, 2027.
✅Upper age limit for direct recruitment to Group I, Group II/II-A and Group IV government posts increased by five years.
✅3% DA increased for govt employees, taking the rate from 60% to 63%, retrospectively from July 1.

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has ordered strict action against officials for lapses in Theni prison security, inadequate monitoring and negligence in duty.
The govt said, accordingly, deputy jail officer N Nageswaran, who had been holding additional charge as superintendent of Theni district prison since August 6, 2024, was placed under suspension from October 30 until further orders. The suspension was ordered under the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules for failing to properly supervise and maintain control over inmates and prison staff.
In another administrative reshuffle, Madurai Central Prison superintendent R Krishnaraj has been transferred to Salem Central Prison to strengthen supervision, accountability and security in prison administration.
The government has also warned prison officials to discharge their responsibilities with utmost care and vigilance, stating that strict action would be taken against those found negligent or lax in security and monitoring duties.
