We are happy to share that we will be at the Girls Agenda Conference 2026 as co-convenors with @KilgorisProject taking place from 26–28 October at the Pullman Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
Held under the theme “Sustaining the Girls Agenda: Building Systems, Partnerships and Investments for Lasting Impact,” the conference will bring together governments, development partners, civil society, philanthropists, the private sector, academia, media and girls themselves to explore how progress for girls can be sustained through stronger systems, strategic partnerships, policies, institutional commitments and accountability.
As part of the conference, we shall host a Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) side event on 27 October, under the theme “Beyond Access to Building Agency: Stronger Education & Accountability Systems for Menstrual Health Where Every Girl Can Learn, Participate, and Thrive.” This session will explore how education systems can better respond to girls’ menstrual health needs, amplify their voices and strengthen accountability, partnerships and practical action to ensure every girl can learn, participate and thrive in life.

In Uganda, 24% of adolescent girls become pregnant before the age of 18 -with consequences for their education, health and future opportunities.
Early pregnancy disrupts girls' education and limits their opportunities.

At the #EACREC2026 Pre-Conference Workshop, TMF shared evidence from Uganda through our presentation: “Beyond School Fees: Household Economic Strengthening as a Strategy for Girls’ School Retention.”
Our experiences challenge the idea that school fees is the main barrier...
..Poverty, unpaid care work, social norms, and household vulnerability continue to push many girls out of school.
The question remains: Which girls are still being left behind, and what must systems change so they can stay, return, transition, and thrive?
