Fun Fact: From debt-ridden to a market powerhouse!
WAPCO (now HBM) fell from a high of ₦57 in August 2017 to just ₦9.75 by June 2019. Investors stayed away as the company struggled under a heavy debt burden.
Following its divestment from South African assets, the turnaround began.
From ₦9.75 in 2019 to ₦335 at today’s opening, the stock has surged approximately 3,336%!
A ₦1 million investment at the low would be worth about ₦34.36 million today, excluding dividends.
Would you have had the conviction to buy when everyone else was avoiding it?

The Fuss About Aradel’s 9M 2026 Results
Aradel’s business had a fantastic 9 months, but its reported profit fell by 82%. What happened?
A huge ₦529.1 billion earnout charge. Let’s explain it simply. 👇
When Renaissance (Aradel is part of Renaissance) acquired SPDC, the deal included a promise to pay the sellers extra money if certain conditions were met. This is called an earnout.
Aradel recorded a ₦529.1 billion charge for this promise. It reduced the profit shown in its results, even though the full amount may not have been paid in cash yet.
Profit before the earnout charge: ₦572.4 billion, up 134%.
Reported profit after tax: ₦43.3 billion, down 82%.
Earnings per share: Fell 42%, partly because of the lower reported profit and the increase in shares.
The takeaway: Aradel’s business grew hugely, but the extra payment linked to the acquisition wiped out most of the profit on paper.
Think of it as: “My lemonade business made a fortune, but I owe the previous owner a massive bonus.”
