🇩🇰 The largest Viking Age hoard has been discovered in Denmark: 700 silver objects weighing 18.5 kg.
In addition to ingots and jewelry, the hoard includes both Arab and Anglo-Saxon coins. This points to close ties between Denmark and the rest of Europe, as well as the Arab world, in the Viking Age.
The English coins were minted under King Edward the Elder, who ruled from 899 to 924. The Arab coins also circulated in the 900s. This allows scholars to date the hoard to the 10th century.
