What Americans call left and right, the world calls empire. Your left bombs Libya. Your right bombs Iraq. Your left funds Israel. Your right funds Israel. Your left starves Cuba. Your right starves Cuba. And when the dust clears, you ask which party was more humane while the corpses look at you in silence.

The real culture about video game culture that interests me here is: Is there a place in this world for more games like Ocarina of Time? Or is this only reviewing so highly simply because it is a remake of OCARINA OF TIME?

Let’s say it was a complete new Zelda game with the same design sensibilities called Banjo of Space, would it still have the same motion?

Nintendo PR has been actually brilliant lately, everything about this remake has been literally best case scenario despite all my cynicism.
Zelda series Producer Eiji Aonuma says one of the reasons they remade Ocarina of Time is to help new staff understand the significance of the original to help them make new Zelda games in the future! "This year marks the 40th anniversary of the very first Legend of Zelda game. With that in mind, I was thinking about what I should create as the producer of the series. Many of the team members who work alongside me on Legend of Zelda games today have only experienced developing the more recent titles. That led me to wonder, “Do they truly understand just how significant The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was to the series as a whole?” Of course, there are team members who vaguely know the game, and those who played it in their childhood days. But I started to wonder how they'd interpret The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as they go about developing future Legend of Zelda games. By learning the game structure and development style behind the original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and by actually rebuilding it as a full remake, it may trigger new insights that they can carry forward into future development. If we could achieve that, I thought it would be incredibly valuable. That’s what led us to the conclusion that now is the right time to revisit The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time once again." nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/ask…

I started Silent Hill 2 (again x2) and it’s pretty good so far but I can’t help but feel very unenthused by how the “dungeon crawling” in this game is just frantically opening every door as fast as possible so you can actually get to the puzzles. Feels like busy work.

On a side note, I really enjoy curb stomping all the monsters in this game, I find a strong sense of joy in the fact that I can absolutely dominate and over power this nightmare. I was learning how to strafe max the monsters to kill them without taking damage, that was special.

Re-watching Haikyu with a friend and we're at the BBQ episode in S2 and he goes "sorry Andres this show is kind of sexist af" and that gave me a bit of pause cause I never thought of Haikyu in that way before, but the stuff with the managers makes him kinda true-ing.

I mean Haikyu is still amazing though, that Summer training arc is true gas, just the fact this manga has to be in Shonen Jump just means that it's inevitably gonna have some sexist shit here and there.

NEW: Sam Altman says it’s “quite terrible” for everyday people to own RAM, arguing it belongs in data centers.

My uncharitable take is they're approaching this alternate shard stuff in a really lame way. My reasonable take is this doesn't necesarilly mean anything good or bad and we'll see what they cook up with it, it could be nice.

Question to all my Twitter followers: What is the best video game I haven't played yet?

ENOUGH TIME HAS PASSED!
If an album for 80% of it is intensely emotionally resonant and powerful and moving and means something really special to you, but like the other 20% is filler, what rating does it get (out of 5, no half ratings)?

Can't speak to these specific scores, but imho it would have benefited the industry if everyone had used a 5 star system. A 100 point system is inherently ambiguous... not to mention way too granular. Never understood how you decide a game is e.g. an 87 and not an 86 or 88?
The fuck going on over there 🧐
