Consistency is a counter to distraction…a major threat to derailing great work (professional, interpersonal, physical, etc.). Some of the greats weren’t the best at their craft, they just kept going when others gave up. What’s around the next corner? Consistency gets you there.
Reflect on the bad decisions you didn’t make. Lots of little wins to be had in the losses you avoided. Reflect when things go right, too.

Never complain about the sound of children playing outside, or of the sound of someone else doing chores.
Reading challenges us to grow our minds, letting us live a multitude of lives through our imagination, which at times is indistinguishable from memory. Reading as a single-tasking effort, either long-form articles, novels, etc. challenges our focus and takes work, but we miss out

on the benefit of the flow state type engagement that seems so elementally ‘human’; to be immersed in story and to explore the world(s) where we live and think. There are few pleasures as reliable as being immersed and lost in a good book. I hope you seek this for yourself.
Uncertainty, chaos, mortality, etc contribute to our underlying stress every day. We look for ways to create structure, order, and legacy as the antidote to these stressors. Consider how these ideas, acknowledged or not, contribute to our values, relationships, jobs, and more.

I think this is where the “make your bed” concept is appealing to so many, or why it is effective at demonstrating how simple action can make order of messiness and that it is a satisfying feeling to do so. A messy bed is stressful, a made bed is a move toward order.

“Most of what you read online today is pointless… It’s not going to help you make better decisions. It’s not going to help you understand the world. It’s not dense with information. It’s not going to help you develop deep and meaningful connections with the people around you.”

Folks, slow down and focus your attention toward the timeless. Make you media diet a healthy one, and limit the junk news.
Can you imagine knowing a river and a watershed, then after a significant geological event, that river moved to a new valley?! Big earthquake/landslide, glacial retreat, massive flooding…and then, new organisms evolve to fit that new system.
We are using modern science (the process) to discover empirically the ideas or Truths that human cultures have come to know intuitively over the ages. Cosmology and low-philosophy and the wisdom that transcends time likely contain answer to future (timeless?) human questions.

Sometimes ‘most’ is not ‘best’. Knowing what works best for you requires clarity of your principles and values, and then working to align your actions with those beliefs.
