It’s finally out! It’s such an honor to write this piece alongside my favorite interlocutor iykyk.
Ten years in the making, literally. This article is just the beginning of a much larger project, but it is such a joy to see it in the world.

It’s a silly goose summer.

Never forget that the first Memorial Day was created by formerly enslaved Black folk in Charleston, SC less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered. On May 1, 1865 more than 10,000 freed slaves gathered at Washington Race Course and Jockey Club, parading around the race track and sang songs to honor the fallen they had buried the day before.

Anybody else watching Orville? The trans story arc as told through Topa is so moving. Weirdly it reminds me of my own coming out story. I love science fiction it allows us to think about the present in such nuanced and compelling ways.
Ah shucks I’m a bit shy, but thanks to @hayleehar for gassing me up! I had a really wonderful conversation with @bryantterry and look forward to working together in the future again. Thank you @LunderInstitute for the invitation.

I’m so glad to be in the company of black artists whose work contends with blk histories absence in the archive, I am struck how much of their practice relies upon happenstance, synchronicity, and feeling.

“Racial capitalism is best understood as a way racism and capitalism work in history and in the present — and how the world as a whole is formed from a specific area of colonialism built off the trans-Atlantic slave trade.”

After three years of avoiding covid, I tested positive three weeks ago and I’m STILL RECOVERING. I had a “mild” case but I’m approaching week four of various symptoms and friends are quietly approaching me about their lingering health issues.
