Ashley Chapman died in 2023 at a red light with 6 other vehicles because a driver fell asleep. The carrier incentivized per-load pay. Per-load pay and short haul meant tightened windows, which meant fatigue and speed were incentivized. Decision makers moved on. Richard Wright was sentenced to three years. The Executives went elsewhere. The owners closed, sold & retired. The trucks you hire and the drivers you hire matter now more than ever.
