#lostfiles August 1st, 2026. Over 30 years ago, @TeamFirstTy was one of New York City’s most prominent high school standouts in the city game of 🏀. A native of the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, he was a fierce inside presence at Grady High School where he was a first-team All-City player as a senior & was a part of a strong group of players from the high school class of 1995. After high school, he made an impact at @StJohnsBBall, where he went to @MarchMadnessMBB twice as a junior & senior, including a run to the Elite Eight in 1998-99. After four years in the @BIGEASTMBB, he went on to play professionally in multiple countries & also played in summer leagues like @procitynyc & many more. Off the court, he has been instrumental for providing community service with his Team First non-profit organization, which has been helping youths & families in the borough of The Bronx & also in Brooklyn. He still has some some seasonal work on the sidelines, as well, as he became a part of @CoachBTurnage’s staff at Wings Academy in the previous decade, a tenure that included numerous @nycpsal Borough championships & also a storybook season in 2014-15, where the Wings went 30-2, won both the @nycpsal city championship & the New York State Federation championship, played in the @DICKS Nationals tournament against the legendary Oak Hill Academy & finished the season at No. 15 in the @usatodayhss national rankings. For the past couple of seasons, he has been on the sidelines with @CoachBTurnage at a new location & a different league: @HCKnightsNY, a program in the @CHSAA_NYC. Last season’s Knights was a young team, but found a way to make it further into the season, as they were finalists in the @CHSAA_NYC Brooklyn/Queens championship game & went all the way to the @CHSAA_NYC AA semifinals. With the tutelage of Ty Grant on the sidelines, which includes motivation & tough coaching, this year’s team is primed to be better & plan to be a force in the city this season. Safe to say, great things are happening on Francis Lewis Boulevard in the Flushing section of Queens, New York.
