Whilst most objects on display at @MAACambridge are in cases, many are on open display. This puts them at a higher risk to damage due to dust - which attracts moisture and pests. Luckily @CamUnivMuseums Conservator Stephanie is on hand to carry out a deep clean!

We always say that heritage is more than the money it contributes but sometimes important to remember it does contribute vast sums of money to the economy, directly and indirectly, as this report shows

We re-framed the newly restored Battle of San Romano by Uccello last week. We replaced a 20th century gilded replica with a newly made 15th century style intarsia frame, made from walnut with boxwood inlay.

This is amazing. Finding the extremely rare #TyrianPurple #pigment a great story! Community led dig, excellent #Carlisle
A rare archaeological object - thought to be the only one of its type in the former Roman Empire - has been discovered in #Carlisle.
Roman Imperial Purple - Tyrian Purple - paint pigment was found as part of the cityβs Uncovering Roman Carlisle project.
A lump of a soft mysterious purple substance was discovered at a Roman Bathhouse (in the drains), within the grounds of @carlislecricket Club, during the 2023 excavation by archaeologists and volunteers.
