Bush’s presidency will be forever defined by the catastrophic Iraq war. Had Bush declared victory & left Iraq at the eight month mark, he could have forged a legacy of greatness, not failure and spilled blood & wasted treasure. Something for POTUS @realDonaldTrump to consider. Better yet, recall his own advice to Bush from 2007, once Iraq had descended into chaos.
The Walk Away option: The President can avoid another round of diplomatic frustrations and dangerous escalation by simply declaring victory and walking away. President Trump has already laid the groundwork for this scenario; each time he’s discussed the war and listed off the number of Iranian capabilities we’ve destroyed, he’s messaging a win. Per his own statements, the war ends when Trump says it’s over. Now is the perfect time for him to say it’s over. By pulling our blockade from the Gulf & our troops out of our remaining bases in the region, we end the conflict kinetically while simultaneously (finally) depriving Iran a key point of leverage: actionable military targets to strike. We essentially force Iran to reopen the SOH because they can no longer reasonably justify attacking ships without an active aggressor to blame. The Iranians have demonstrated that they care deeply about public opinion—therefore, once we lift the blockade, they’re likely to engage in serious talks with the Gulf states to come up with an arrangement that quickly opens the SOH. We then use economic leverage to our advantage: we offer incremental sanctions relief on Iranian oil to make opening SOH a non-negotiable for the Iranians. While President Trump takes a victory lap about having ended the war & ensuring that Iran won’t have a nuclear weapon, our diplomats can quietly work with our Gulf allies and the Iranians to negotiate a workable peace plan that ensures the SOH stays open. Right now Iranian leaders are unable to make many concessions with the U.S. threatening another round of strikes. The Iranian people rallied around the hardliners in their government after we killed the former supreme leader & members of his family including children, and the tragic bombing of a girl’s school. If you understand basic human nature, you’ll understand why all of this has had a radicalizing effect on their population. Now, many Iranians believe that the only acceptable path forward, for the sake of their national pride and to deter future attacks, is by forcing a badly blooded U.S. retreat from the region. Our walking away from the conflict will provide Iranian leadership a symbolic victory they can tout to their now-galvanized people, allowing more latitude for them to eventually reach a compromise with us on bigger items, like the nuclear issue. By walking away, we buy more trade space for compromise in future negotiations that won’t be possible if we remain poised to strike Iran. At the moment, Trump has the political power in the U.S. to sell walking away as a victory to his base. Of course, the same neocons who talked him into this war will complain and attack him, but they don’t represent a legitimate constituency. This war is widely unpopular—ending it will be widely popular. In the long run, history will commend Trump for choosing this option. In recognizing that the war was a mistake, and by leaving quickly before getting bogged down in a quagmire, he avoids falling into the gambler’s fallacy that ensnared many of his predecessors and got thousands of Americans killed.

There is no such thing as a short, 3-4 day military operation—if we strike Iran, they will respond. We have consistently underestimated the most basic reality: the enemy gets a vote. There is no military option that will persuade Iran to accept the U.S.’s terms for a deal—after 8 months of failing to restore order to the chaos it caused, the administration knows this— so what is the purpose of more strikes? If we strike Iran by targeting more of their leaders and/or energy infrastructure, Iran will retaliate by striking Gulf energy infrastructure & U.S. forces in the region. More American troops will needlessly die, & our energy prices will continue to skyrocket. Iran’s allies & proxies—like the Houthis, Iraqi militias, & possibly Bahraini groups—will attack Saudi energy infrastructure, the BAM/Suez, & will potentially attack the governments of Kuwait & Bahrain. We’re already unable to help the Saudis deter the Houthis—if we engage in kinetic combat against Iran, we’ll be even more incapable of assisting our already-weakened allies. More strikes won’t change the game. Walking away & declaring victory before Tuesday sets a positive tone for the elections & resets the parameters for negotiations with Iran. President Trump can avoid the escalation trap by walking away now, before the fog of war envelops the rest of his presidency.

Imagine being an independent swing voter in Texas OR a disaffected Trump voter, and seeing how Ted Cruz acts, how he prioritizes his time, what he supports, etc. "Is that what I can expect electing another Republican?" Poor Ken Paxton.
Well @tedcruz, maybe if you didn't stay online like a wannabe influencer attacking the most popular podcasters like @TuckerCarlson on behalf of your unpopular foreign nation benefactors, you wouldn't get caught on a hot mic crying about losing Texas and Kansas. Embarrassing.

Keeping them around is a disaster waiting to happen (it happened). For the love of God, they can’t leech off future coalitions anymore

Ken Paxton was outspent by the GOP in a 9-to-1 margin and only received the Trump endorsement days before the primary. He literally offered to withdraw if Cornyn did his job and at the very least suspended the parliamentarian and forced SAVE Act to a vote. The GOP made the choice to rebuke the will of their own voters and spend 100 million on a candidate running amnesty adds in spanish. You are literally complaining about the voters because they primaried a resentful old loser who refused to do his job.
If Talarico wins it will be because Paxton was a ruinously flawed candidate who should not have been the nominee. Complaining about the voters is for losers.

At what point do voters actually get a say?
It was supposed to last two weeks. Everyone who said it would be a huge issue in November got bitched at. We all know it's going to heat up after the midterms. As usual, nobody who is wrong about wars escalating or entering quagmire territory lose their positions.

It’s worth remembering that Tucker is almost single-handedly responsible for mainlining the Great Replacement in the US. He spoke about it on his Fox show and he used the name. Disagree all you want with him, but he deserves massive respect for that.
Tucker on the Great Replacement.. “Nothing like this has ever happened in world history… it is only, and we would dare anybody to refute this with numbers, it is only the Majority White countries that have turned over in population. Nothing like this has happened in Africa or Asia or the Middle East. And at this pace, there will be not be a single White majority country left in our lifetime other than Russia.

Falling back on the myth of inevitable midterm losses is defeatist loser talk. You're not "saving a country" winning one election, then losing the next. Democrats controlled Congress for FORTY years until the Republican Revolution. The goal is to WIN, not LOSE BY LESS.
If Trump had kept his campaign promises, the Epstein class would be getting prosecuted, there'd be no war in Iran or Ukraine, gas prices would be hitting new lows, real wages would be rising for the first time in nearly a decade, and the GOP would be adding seats in the midterms.

Refugee protections are an insane relic of the Carter era. It’s indefensible that foreigners have the RIGHT to extensive taxpayer funded court proceedings in our country. It’s a slap in the face to working Americans.
The US is systematically deporting people with refugee protections—including many with deep roots in the US—to countries that are swiftly returning them to countries where judges ruled they cannot be sent. Honored to have contributed to this important story by @60Minutes

Weird how a midterm loss would be a rebuke of all the “Woke right” things, but not a rebuke of the neoconservative wet dream of war with Iran and skyrocketing fuel prices. Not sure I’m buying that narrative, nope.
If the Republicans do poorly in the midterms, given the catastrophe that is the Democrats with their socialism and open Communism and all the omg wtf, it's basically the biggest rebuke in the universe of this Woke Right sewage and Trump's (related) goofy-bad economic policy.

What Lula and the Left did in Brazil, the Democratic Party will inevitably do in America. They appointed their own partisan hacks to the bench in as many seats as possible, then appealed to the legitimacy of the courts even as they dismantled any semblance of impartiality. And once they had control of the courts, they used them to install a soft dictatorship that had the veneer of democratic legitimacy. Any attempt to overturn this will now, ironically, be called an illegal coup. It's genius if you think about it. Abuse the constitutional order so thoroughly that your enemies' only remaining options to fix it are, by definition, outside the bounds of normal constitutional law. This is exactly what the Democrats plan to do in America once they inevitably have the votes to pack the Supreme Court.

We are, quite literally, one democratic trifecta from becoming Brazil.

"Superpowers" don't let allow open election theft in their own backyards. That's how rebellions are sparked.
Not that I am in love with the Zionist Bolsonaro Family, but they stole it from him in front of everyone. This is our damn hemisphere. We should already have demanded they redo the election. This is why you don't waste your credibility in the shithole sands of the Middle East.

He just described every war of the modern era.
What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.
