We already know many of the ethical principles that should guide the development of artificial intelligence. What we currently need are effective international institutions that can safeguard the global common good. This calls for shared standards, independent oversight, and clear mechanisms of accountability, so that decisions concerning the development and use of AI can be examined, challenged when necessary, and accompanied by appropriate remedies for any harm caused.

The irony of US Catholics bashing Card Vesco for supposedly lacking the courage to be martyred is that his odds of martyrdom are much better than theirs, & the Trappists of Algeria, whose project of friendship over proselytization V precisely continues, were themselves martyred.

That the American Catholics who so strongly supported this man and his movement, and the Polish pope who inspired them, have now turned their backs on all of that is one of the most unexpected developments for a conservative movement supposedly guided by faith and principle.

This is the Oxyrhynchus Hymn, dated to the late 200s AD. It is the earliest known Christian hymn manuscript with both lyrics and musical notation. A plain English rendering of the surviving words:
“Let all creation be silent.
Let the shining stars be still.
Let the rushing winds and rivers cease.
While we sing to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
let every power answer: Amen, amen.
Strength, praise, and glory forever to God,
the only giver of all good things. Amen, amen.”

U.S. District Court Judge Carter with a mic drop. 👀
Judge David Carter: "Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional election procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch. In bringing this lawsuit, the Executive would have this Court believe that it reigns as a sole sovereign. But California and its people are sovereign, too."
It was great to be on a panel on Pope Leo's Magnifica Humanitas and the question "Should we be like Gods?" for a short answer, yes if that means being like Christ.
