Nothing on this page or on my podcast will be generated from AI. There is no need….the original sources tell their own stories without the need for enhancing them. Neither will I use bots to enhance my work as so many others seem to do. Again, there is no need. #ww1 #WW2

In this episode we visit the Arras battlefield and discover the story of a cavalry attack in April 1917 at Monchy Le Preux. We tell the story through the eyes of the men who were there, including 1 man who was saved by his horse. #WW1 podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…

Amazing. Someone who has achieved so much and is so busy but has no ego and has time to help others. Incredible...

I keep reading and hearing about people calling themselves battlefield “experts” and claiming to know “everything” about Arnhem, Normandy, #Somme…How do they know they know everything? The subject is so vast. I learn new stuff every day. I have no idea how much I don’t know.

I am delivering 11 talks between now and Remembrance Day. This is one of them. My Grandparents are buried in the churchyard. My Grandfather, Tom Bowles, served this church and village for many decades. My Mum saw this Lancaster crash close to the village when she was 7…#ww1

As part of my volunteer role for @CWGC , I look after the burials in Cromer Cemetery. Walter Spalding saved a critical situation by quick and brave thinking, only to be mortally wounded by concussion and shell shock at Vimy Ridge a few months later. #ww1

Why my battlefield guiding is all about raising funds for this wonderful charity.
This October, we mark 25 years since British Armed Forces first deployed to Afghanistan. As the Army’s national charity, we recognise their service, remember the sacrifice, and reflect on the lasting legacy of a campaign that affected thousands of military personnel, and their families, in the UK and overseas. Although military operations have ended, the impact of the Afghanistan conflict continues to be felt by veterans and families today, and the ABF is and will remain steadfast in its support for all of those who are in hardship or need. Today we're sharing Mark's story. Mark was shot in the neck while serving in Afghanistan, leaving him with devastating injuries. Despite the predictions of his doctors, Mark was determined to overcome his injuries and learn to walk again. Today, Mark has achieved his goal of walking again, and is a passionate fundraiser for our charity. Find out more about our Afghanistan commemoration here: bit.ly/4zsOfpP #ForSoldiersForLife #rememberingafghanistan

Eddie Latheron photographed with his Blackburn Rovers teammates during the 1914/15 season. A prolific inside-forward capped twice by England, Latheron made more than 280 senior appearances for Rovers and scored over one hundred goals. He was killed in action on this day in 1917.
