“There’s trouble brewing” for the Ravens if Baltimore loses to the Buffalo Bills this week, Wink Martindale says.
“They need to find some football character in that locker room.” Sees players making “business decisions” on the field.
“The leaders are not representing the Ravens of old. Jesse’s a great coach. But Jesse needs to have some honest conversations, and I think Steve Bisciotti needs to have a real serious conversation with Eric DeCosta.”

Love to see it — Maryland is opening a 30 min window for media to watch Tuesday’s practice. First in-season practice that media can attend since the 2024 season
Maryland also announced that AD Jim Smith will introduce interim HC Aazaar Abdul-Rahim ahead of Tuesday’s presser

The Ravens are +65 in the first half and –70 in the second half this season.
A 135 point swing between halves.
No team this century has had a larger second half point differential drop off through 7 games.
Go put your bathing suit on because you’re in de Nile
Just so folks know, Maryland’s fiscal years run July 1 -June 30, so they’re currently in Fiscal Year 2027, meaning they have access to that extra money right now, which should help with the Locks buyout stuff, having more $$ for new coach & staff, and giving new coach more $$
For years (after Maryland left the ACC), there was understandably a large part of the fan/donor base that had a hard time accepting (and didn't want to let go of) the old rivalries and traditions developed over 60+ years as a charter member of the ACC conference. As we all know, that ACC (that Maryland left) no longer exists. However, there are still remnants of (the Big Ten move) dissenters out there. Mostly, old guard types. But, those numbers have dwindled precipitously as the years have gone by. And, as new traditions and rivalries have developed in the B1G.
Maryland's athletic department was also in a desperate situation financially at the time of the ACC to B1G) move, in 2014. Largely, due to decades of athletic director + department incompetence/ mismanagement and a lack of forward thinking.
Maryland, further owed the ACC an exit fee of $31.4 million, and it borrowed more than $125 million from the Big Ten Conference during its initial non-vested membership period. That ACC exit fee has been paid off and the Big Ten loan balance has been repaid incrementally, (via adjustments to Maryland's annual conference revenue distributions), with the repayment obligations to conclude in fiscal year, 2026. Maryland will therefore receive, its first fully vested Big Ten media rights share in fiscal year 2027.
Maryland also named a new Director of Athletics in Jim Smith on July 15, 2025. In short order, that hire has become one of the most impactful in the school's AD department history. Smith, and his right hand associates.. Diana Sabau (Senior Deputy Athletic Director), Joe LaBue (Deputy Athletic Director / Chief Revenue Officer), Kirby Mills (Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Development Officer) have hit the ground running. In their first year, Maryland's athletic revenue + fundraising operation produced one of the most successful years in department history. With the donor base expanding and reaching record levels, as well. Maryland has also significantly increased its total football investment — Revenue Share/NIL + roster value from $3.5 million to the $23-25 million range.
In summary, Maryland athletics is in a strong position moving forward, it's future is as bright as its been in decades (if not longer). More specifically, and given the current context.. They are now in a prime position to launch a national search for a new football program leader and head coach.. Who can begin to transform the Terps into a legitimate Big Ten conference + national contender. @TerpsFootball @umterps @TerpsADJimSmith @JCLaBue @kmills34 @bigten #B1GFootball @Genetics56 @binderct @collegead @GlennClarkRadio @Insideblackgold @FrankKleha

Mentors say Jared Banner’s “infectious” work ethic and “courage” could fix the stagnating Orioles.

How much is @mcps paying @LINKstrategic to poorly go out into communities they know nothing about and feed parents BS about how our kids and teachers will be happier in more crowded schools? We're onto all of your awful talking points and lies #SaveOurSchools #TeamSTINK
Wow, @FLO_Analytics recommendations for elementary and middle school closure and consolidation in @MCPS uses some horrible data. Flo claims a 14,100 decline in students. The state of MD did a study in August of 2026 showing an 8k projected decline. Why you lyin', Flo? #badStudy

The @UofMaryland Athletics Department has agreed to First Amendment training with FIRE after two student journalists were reported to campus police for “suspicious activity” while trying to interview @umterps football players.
Student reporters should be able to do their jobs in public spaces without fear of unnecessary police encounters.
We appreciate Maryland Athletics’ willingness to address these concerns. Public universities — including their athletic departments — have a duty to protect press freedom, not intimidate those exercising it.
For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.

Kevin Willard unplugged on Villanova exiting the Big 5 series 😳
"Unfortunately, it really wasn't a Villanova decision. Either you wrote a really poor article, or people can't read your article. But we wanted it. We thought we had a deal. I think you need to talk to the Temple AD and get your stories right. Because this was not a Villanova thing... Either people are illiterate, which I don't think they are, or you're just a bad writer."
"We wanted to be in it, we did everything to do it. Talk to Temple. Talk to those guys. It wasn't Villanova."

Top Maryland players expected to hit transfer portal:
1. QB Malik Washington: Numbers have slid throughout season but will still be one of most sought after QBs in portal. Early look is Penn State but will have numerous suitors. Underrated fit: SMU
2. Edge Zion Elee: 5 star true freshman edge with 4 sacks, an 88.9 pass rush grade, and a 77.6 run defense grade will be paid millions of dollars. Visited Auburn and South Carolina but will have to compete with heavy weight programs. Prediction: Ohio State
3. Edge Sidney Stewart: Sophomore who posted 5 sacks as a true freshman. Has 2 sacks this season with an 84.6 pass rush grade. Visited Indiana in high school, thats my pick for now but again will be highly sought after.
4. Edge Zahir Mathis: Missed this season with injury but 5 sacks on a 74 pass rush grade as a true freshman last year. Visited Ohio State and was recruited by Bama. Philly kid so I'll throw Penn State in with those 2.
5. Edge Nahsir Taylor: 7 career sacks in just 520 snaps through 1.5 seasons. 78.5 pass rush grade this season. Virginia Tech and Penn State would be early calls here.
6. WR Chris Durr 2.11 Yards per route run, 45/469/4. Good mid tier P4 WR. From Illinois, that sounds perfect to me. Prediction Illinois.
7. C Michael Hershey: 2 year starter, over 1300 career snaps, 84.5 Pass block grade 60.2 run block grade. From PA, expect Penn State to get involved here.
Terps roster is filled with high end talent that Locksley couldn't win with.

He steered the program out of the darkness of the Jordan McNair tragedy, made Terps Football respectable for a short time, and was a great ambassador for MD. But it was time. Locksley out at Maryland after 8 years. Now comes the most important decision for UMD in a generation. 🐢

Security called me at 6:12 AM today.
"Patch every PHP server immediately."
I asked what happened.
"Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required."
Cool.
How many PHP servers do we have?
According to inventory: 12
According to reality:
Nobody knows.
We found one running WordPress.
Three running old internal tools.
One under someone's desk.
Two inside vendor appliances.
A forgotten employee directory from 2016.
And a server named:
PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH
Naturally, that one runs payroll exports.
Then we found a PHP 5.6 box.
I asked who owned it.
The documentation said:
BRIAN.
Brian left in 2019.
We called Brian.
He said:
"Oh wow, that's still running?"
Excellent.
By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call.
CEO:
"Can hackers actually get in?"
Security:
"Potentially yes."
CEO:
"Without a password?"
Security:
"Yes."
CEO:
"Then why do WE need passwords?"
Not the lesson.
Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue.
Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers.
Finance asked for a cost comparison.
At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline.
Marketing refused.
"Our campaign is live."
So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover.
We finally patched everything we could find.
Then our scanner discovered another PHP server.
Hostname:
TEMP-PHP-2014
Uptime:
4,512 days.
Nobody knows what it does.
Nobody owns it.
Nobody can shut it down.
But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels.
Security has classified it as critical infrastructure.
It is running PHP 5.4.
The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees.
The emergency patch took four hours.
Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven.
The internet isn't held together with code.
It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.

UMD FOOTBALL STAFF CALLS POLICE ON STUDENT JOURNALISTS: Here’s University of Maryland Police’s dispatch audio of officers being called out to the Jones-Hill House for ‘people, possibly kids lingering outside the doors’ after coach Mike Locksley’s departure as UMD’s football coach today.
According to the dispatch audio, the complaint had been received after it had been ‘called in from the football staff.’ The ‘people lingering’ outside turned out to be @testudotimes journalists, who had been trying to get players to comment.
The two students were asked for their IDs by UMPD and ‘sent on their way.’ No further police action was taken. #UMD – at College Park, MD
