I was recently asked the question of: “what have you always wanted to do, that’s relatively easy to do, but you haven’t done?”
Answer:
I’ve always wanted to watch a @SpaceX launch… It’s relatively low hanging fruit, and not a far drive to Vandenberg to observe from a distance… It would be cool to take my kids too, especially since my oldest is obsessed with space/rockets…
I don’t know why I haven’t done this yet - But it needs to happen…

We have crews back with @marincountyfire on day two of a prescribed burn near Novato. In conjunction with the burn, both agencies are co-hosting a Firing Operations Class. This class teaches the fundamental skills of how to utilize controlled firing to contain uncontrolled fire.

This clip from Gabriel Kirkpatrick Mann’s (@Hotshot_Movie ) documentary, “Hotshot” sums up the situation on the ground quite well…
It’s a unfortunate reality that there are military veterans who chose to continue civil service, working in extremely dangerous environments who “come home” to a situation where they are living out of their trucks at campsites - All because they aren’t paid enough to afford housing…
Yea, you read that right… There are homeless, veteran, wildland firefighters out there defending your public lands and million dollar McMansions.
Why this isn’t national news is completely beyond me…
And we’ve had enough…
Sure there was a temporary pay raise with the bipartisan infrastructure act - But, come October 1st, it disappears… And I guarantee you that if a permanent solution like Tim’s Act doesn’t pass, or if a band aid solution like the Wildland Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act doesn’t pass, then there will be nobody left to fight these wildfires consuming your public lands and your property…
Good thing we have folks like the @GrassrootsWFF organization and the @NFFE_Union working their asses off to fix this problem…
