“You People Are Trying To Shut The Voices Of Edo People. I Will Leave Everything I Am Doing To Be There For The Protest” — Mama Pee Reacts To Edo Police Warning 🚨
Mama Pee has criticised the Edo State Police Command’s warning against a planned protest, accusing authorities of attempting to silence the voices of Edo people.
Reacting to the warning, she questioned why residents should be expected to remain silent when incidents of insecurity continue to raise concerns across the state.
She referenced the attack on popular Benin entertainer MC Porkupyne, questioning how an incident involving someone as prominent as the entertainer could happen in the heart of Benin City and people would be expected not to come out to express their grievances.
Mama Pee also accused some police officers of repeatedly extorting Edo residents, alleging that the same authorities warning against protests do not want citizens to speak up about their experiences.
She further claimed that an individual identified as Egogo once threatened a presidential candidate in the presence of the former Edo State Commissioner of Police, but alleged that no action was taken over the incident.
“You people are trying to shut the voices of Edo people. I will leave everything I am doing to be there for the protest,” she declared.
Her reaction follows the Edo State Police Command’s statement warning against calls for a planned violent protest. While the police acknowledged citizens’ right to peaceful demonstrations, the Command warned that violence, destruction of property and other acts capable of disrupting public peace would not be tolerated.
The development has continued to generate debate around public safety, police accountability and the right of Edo residents to peacefully express their grievances.
