I'm increasingly dissatisfied with co-op games taking hits in reviews for not tackling "alpha gamers." When did designers become responsible for behaviour around the table? Know the best way to mitigate alpha players? "Hey, Terry, you can't come next week." Sorted. #boardgames

Sometimes it's quite painful to be working on a project where some community members fail to be understanding, patient, or even reasonable. It's like they don't realize that we want this to succeed probably more than they do; It's my deepest passion AND livelihood! #stressed

I may have eaten a lot of this without sharing...
Fresh mint chocolate chip ice cream. One of my favorites. There is something so intensely mesmerizing and soothing about watching ice cream churning. I recommend everyone do it... for mental health reasons. 😉 Also as… instagram.com/p/CAYRg3MBxr7/…

You ever try to kill a spider, but somehow it just disappears, and then, for the rest of the night, you keep feeling little creeping legs randomly on your body, and you know it's just your arm, leg, body hair settling or something, but your brain says, "IT'S THE SPIDER'S GHOST!"

Why aren't you watching @NASA live on YT right now? I'll make it easier for you: youtube.com/watch?v=21X5lGlD…
This weekend I playtested Dust Bunny Rumble, then laid on the for for an hour asking myself really hard questions that have been elephants in the room I was too scared to ask before, for fear they would result in a lot of work being undone or a lot of work needing to be done. 1/

Every question I could give a satisfactory answer for a disregarded. All the questions that stumped me I wrote down. I spent a good amount of time focusing only on each of those questions, trying to get to the core of what the issue might be so I could identify a solution. 2/

In the end the solution was quite simple and surprisingly solved several of those difficult questions at the same time without any destruction, adding of components or systems, or rebalancing. Learning about positive & negative, non-/destructive feedback loops saved the day!

It occured to me that I should be reaching out here to my #boardgame peers. Quarantine is lame. So let's playtest games; Yours or mine, online, anytime is fine. @TabletopiaGames #DustBunnyRumble #EscapePodScramble #cabinfever #covidcrazy

I wonder if companies are finally realizing that working remote is viable. Hire the right people who will be accountable and responsible, and once this quarantine is over, continue allowing wfh. When we can leave our houses again it'll be the perfect recipe for happiness.

Obviously it will also require proper tech, and only be applicable to some positions and industries. I'm even for a few days at the office for specific meetings, because sometimes in person is just better. But wfh/remote work is a legitimate path forward.
