I have to be clear about something. On April 20, 2025 at precisely 4:20pm, I was approached by a leading member of the E4 Mafia in the energy drink isle at the commissary. I will call him “SPC Jones.” He then pulled on one of the White Monsters and we descended via a hidden elevator into his secret lair. As he sat down on his throne of Zyn logs, SPC Jones made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse and I have been compensated to make posts on this account ever since. My directive has been to manipulate my followers (you) to focus on ejection port covers and detritus in order to steer away from the narrative of walking on grass and PT belts. I apologize for nothing.

Some people ran down the mountain and left their men behind. Some went in and got them out. The cost was extremely high. That is the truth.
So Navy SEAL Andy Stumpf had a long, multi-part podcast that included another SEAL who claimed that Combat controller John Chapman was dead within 3 minutes of the insert… I am not going to opine; I wasn’t there. I will, however, post this video off CCT legend Peaches reaction:

Definitely a vibe. Man, I can’t believe I had that three mag pouch so high up under my chin. Rookie mistake I guess. Exposed flashbang became outlawed not long after this picture was taken if I remember correctly.
Saddam may be gone but the early GWOT camo blend is forever. The Baghdad Hoodie.

Bill is right. Not all E8s need to be 1SGs, and numerous post-1SG positions are important to the Army. This policy works well in the following case: SFC Jones has been B Co 1SG for about six months and did not receive a First Sergeant evaluation before the SFC evaluation board. Board results place his OML just below center mass. Six months later he receives an MQ NCOER as a First Sergeant. His company is the best in the battalion, if not the brigade, and he has set his commander up for success. After 12 months in position, he is eligible for this merit-based promotion. His OML would not have been reached before the next board, but he would likely have been a “sure thing” the following year. He can now be promoted to E8, arguably a year early, because he has shown the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required of a successful first sergeant and a potential future sergeant major.
Active Army: ~10,000 E8 billets. Only ~3,000 are coded as 1SG. Many MSG positions require 1SG experience (MLC instructor and ROTC, as example). So why do we have a problem?

Honestly, I don’t see why this is an issue. I guess the general public doesn’t understand what standards are.
Exclusive: The Pentagon is asking commanders to nominate troops to attend Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “State of the Force” address this September, and says the servicemembers must meet waist-to-height requirements and exhibit “impeccable” grooming standards. on.wsj.com/3VwFKeF

Love this mentality. When it comes to innovation, you’ve just got to do it. If you overanalyze everything you’ll be left behind.

One of my favorite chaos bombs to drop: Step 1: Find a squared-away, hard-working Captain. Step 2: Identify a lazy Captain who has barely any responsibility and whom no one has seen all day (or week). I’ll call him “Captain Jones.” Step 3: Approach the squared-away Captain and say, “Hey Sir, how does it make you feel to know that Captain Jones gets paid as much as you do?” Step 4: Walk away.

This is long overdue. If leadership determines that a Sergeant First Class displays the knowledge, skills, and behaviors of a First Sergeant, they should be paid to be in that position. Interested to see how this rolls out. Officers have been doing this for a long time with merit-based promotions.
#BreakingNews: The Army announced authority enabling the merit-based promotion of eligible sergeants first class to master sergeants, with a follow-on lateral appointment to first sergeant. Battalion commanders are now authorized to nominate eligible sergeants first class for merit-based promotion with an endorsement from their brigade commander. Took my first Combat Field Test (CFT) this morning. Finished in 24:12, which isn’t bad for an old man I suppose. Drinking my post-workout coffee, I came up with a solid game plan to improve next time: run faster 😂
