"Meritocracy" comes to us from "The Rise of the Meritocracy", a 1958 satirical work by British sociologist Michael Young, which predicted the triumph of a sham merit system that disguises class privilege behind purportedly objective standards. dictionary.com/e/word-of-the…

Free speech hurt others, regardless of what "noble/hateful" cause you use it for. But it must be protected... Otherwise, sharing your true thoughts in therapy one day might get you arrested. Free communication is why we went viral on the planet youtu.be/tIwYTq-v_2o

One of the US’s big concerns about #China apps is political manipulation by Beijing. To show you an example, we tried to send a photo of President Xi Jinping on WeChat. This is what happened.🙃 @CNBC @CNBCi

Fantastic to hear great work underway at @ExcelAtUni presented by @TheHeadboy on @ESquaredSA #Pathways programme. 56 cold calls over the last period, 10 actual leads, 4 actual sales, and 3 presentation opportunities. Well done team! This is a clear example of getting hands dirty!
The Joburg #GlobalShapers would like to give a big thank you to Marcello Schermer and Liz Letsoalo for their curatorship over the past year. Thank you for leading the Hub with compassion, dedication and purpose. We are grateful to have shared this journey with you.

Not often you see Anderson Cooper shed a tear on air. Leave it to Cornell West to eloquently and emotionally get to the heart of what's happening. This was powerful!

To the Sepedi people: Can someone please put me out of my misery and remind me what we used to cal Nougat when we were growing up? When it was still sold in small plastic (ice-pop) bags for R0.5-R1? Thanks

I've had a conspiracy theory on my mind for a while. Could it be that SOME shop owners "hired" looters to destroy they stores in order to claim insurance for their COVID-struck businesses?
"Your stores can be replaced by an insurance claim. George Floyd can't get his life back." -- Youtube comment.

Thanks for helping with social-contract vocab @Trevornoah. I'm having a suspicion that shop owners/landlords may have left random brick stacks sighted.. for riot pretenders to destroy COVID19 stricken businesses for insurance . Illegal and punishable, but humanely understandable
