No cayó.

It's fascinating how uninterested Coyne seems to be in the way this membership will bind Canada to the EU. All memberships come with rules and obligations. We just aren't privy to them. Coyne isn't even curious. When any government is this vague, it should be like blood in the water for journalists.

Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński is explaining what is happening right now at Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal, calling it nothing less than a COUP D’ÉTAT! “In Poland, we have a liberal-left government led by Donald Tusk, who is the Prime Minister. What is happening right now with the Constitutional Tribunal is that they want to take it over and fill it with their own people. Why? Because they want to get rid of the Polish currency, bring us into the eurozone, and eliminate our secure borders. They are being pushed by the Germans, who want to spread the burden of illegal migration and send migrants to Poland. First of all, the Polish złoty is our constitutionally protected currency. They have to change the Constitution to replace it, and without the Constitutional Tribunal, they cannot do that. So, number one, they want to get rid of our currency and force us to adopt the euro and join the eurozone. Then they want to take our gold reserves, the largest in the European Union, to Frankfurt, to the European Central Bank, which is a German-based institution. They also want to open our borders. And they want to make sure that when they lose the next elections, which are coming next year, the Constitutional Tribunal will be unable to do anything to stop their actions or reverse what they have done. There are many more reasons, but I want you to understand one thing: they are under German influence. They are globalists, and we are fighting not just for Poland, but for Europe. Be like Poland. Be strong. Our nation is strong, and we are going to win this fight!”

You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland). You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission.

So what's our plan, Elon? Just to block them until one day we get unlucky and fail? Unless we are willing to go on the offensive, and cripple their ability to try again, we will lose. Then no rockets, no Mars, no multiplanetary species. Just oogabooga until the next asteroid comes. This is a war. They are already killing our people. If we try to prosecute a war within the bounds of civil society and criminal law, we lose. We must be as ruthless as they are. And no, that doesn't make us as bad as them. Because we are fighting for civilization, and they are fighting against it. All that matters is that we win. Because if we don't, whatever principles we think we had have no effect on anything. The means do not justify the ends.
This is literally their plan and they say it out loud!

Good point by @jcenters here. Money is a measure of fucks given. You get it because you did something someone gave a fuck about. You use it to make people give a fuck about something they otherwise wouldn't. Except the act of using money to make people give a fuck about something is called "spending". How many fucks people give about you is not proportional to how much money you have, it's proportional to how much money you spend, and how wisely you spend it. Many wealthy people, who self-describe as right-wing, expect to be influential because they have money, not because of how they use money. We have a fair handful of right wing billionaires, who want right-wing values to win, but they are fundamentally confused about what their role in that victory needs to be. I've often joked that the difference between a billionaire and an intellectual is that an intellectual doesn't think he's a billionaire. But unfortunately, I'm not much of a comedian, and this particular joke is only funny because it's true. Far too many of the right-wing billionaire class thinks that their role is thought leadership. But they are investors, not persuaders, and certainly not practical philosophers. The actual power they have isn't to inspire or lead, it's to provide resources to empower others and create organizations and networks. This means that when someone says "it would be good to have 100 million dollars to make a right-wing, non-subverted version of The Odyssey", the correct answer is not "rent computation time on my company's AI slop cannon, and make it at your own expense while working a day job". This means when someone says "we need to create some right-wing networks", the correct answer is not "buy a ticket to listen to me spitball abstract religious theory". The correct answer is "hey, you're good at networking, here's a middle class salary so you can devote your full-time efforts to recruit and building a team of full-time lobbyists, and here's some money to pay them with". The correct answer is "hey, you're writing kids' books about fighting monsters, instead of about exploring your unique gender identity, here's a middle class salary so you can do it full time". The correct answer is "hey, you're good at rooting out left wing corruption, and exposing it to sunlight, here's a middle class salary so you can do it full time without worrying about monetization, and a legal team on retainer for when they come after you". The correct answer is "oh, you got arrested for being rude to some foreigner invader in blatant left-wing lawfare? Well, here's a paid-off legal team to help you, and a guaranteed job for life at one of my companies so you don't care about what this does to your criminal record, and, hey, fuck it, I'll pay off your mortgage as well. Let's see how well they can use the system to intimidate people when being targeted by them is like hitting the lottery!" The correct answer is "oh, your fantasy novel series got cancelled because you refused the publisher's demand to put in a gay character? Here's 30K to cover self-publishing expenses, and I'll use my massive multibillion dollar social media platform to promote it for free." Why is @DataRepublican having to monetize on her own with {website I can't even mention because god forbid X.com doesn't get all the clicks}? Why does @monsterhunter45 not have a single movie deal {because god forbid the right make a movie that isn't about Jesus or Ayn Rand}? What are we even doing here? Right wing money is not being spent in a disciplined or intelligent way. We're all just noodling around. Our moneyed class spend on physical self-protection so someone doesn't shoot them, but very few of them spend much of anything on political self-protection except Musk. And none of them spend anything on cultural self-protection, because it hasn't sunk in that culture, art, and entertainment are upstream from politics. Buying Twitter protects the people who already agree with you from censorship (sometimes), but it doesn't move the needle with anyone else, because they show up to the conversation with their opinions already formed by Disney Star Wars and Harry Potter and Queers of War. Look, this isn't about what you "should" do. It's about what you have to do if you want to survive. Just because left can steal the money they spend doesn't mean they aren't getting something for that money. Which means you have to spend to fight them, even if you have to spend the actual money you earned. It doesn't matter if you "should" be safe from political prosecutions and confiscations just because that's morally right, or if broke right wing artists and commentators like me "should" pull ourselves up by our own well-worn bootstraps, because something something individualism self-reliance avocado toast. I'm not talking about what should be. I am talking about what is. Fighting wars costs money. The left is so corrupt and incompetent right now that their gay race communist trash costs ten times what it actually costs to make. And the left is so delusional and untalented right now that people would prefer literally any alternative to their art and entertainment. But books still cost money to write and publish. Movies still cost money to shoot. Culture wars still cost money to fight. You can't expect the left, however crippled, to lose a war with nothing and no one. And if they don't lose, they are going to gulag you and take all your stuff. 100% of it. They don't want to rob you because they hate you. They hate you because they want to rob you.
These guys think their money magically protects them somehow. No, what protects you is the influence and protection you buy with the money. The money just sitting there paints a huge target on your back. This is what @Cernovich has been trying to tell them.

Today it’s us, but tomorrow this could happen to YOU. They want to make discussing the Great Replacement and using the term “native French” ILLEGAL ‼️ This is the bill introduced today in the National Assembly. They want to ban WORDS so they can overrun us more easily, without us being able to defend ourselves. We must protect freedom of speech at all costs. Share this, we cannot let them do this! 🇫🇷🙏🏻

Listen up, people. These numbers are a how-to guide for flushing a country down the toilet!! 45.6% of Afghan immigrants, 42.4% of Somali immigrants, 34.8% of Iraqi immigrants are on SNAP. Illegal-alien households at 59% on major welfare. You import from the third world, and they disproportionately consume the benefits. The “worst of the worst” deportation focus will never round these people up. And they’re likely worse than the known criminals, because no one has any idea what they did back home. If the policy only removes the already-caught criminals, the system stays on the same trajectory. Change my mind.
Newsmax host @RobFinnertyUSA just said what no one in mainstream media will admit about SNAP. He tore the mask off the entire food stamps program...and what he revealed will infuriate taxpayers. It’s far worse than anyone realized. “There are 42 million people in this country that need food stamps on a weekly basis.” “And we’re saying ‘people’ deliberately instead of Americans because most of the people that are on food stamps aren’t even from this country.” “45% of Afghanistan immigrants are on food stamps.” “42% of Somali immigrants, 34% of every immigrant from Iraq, 23% of Haitians.” “59% of ALL illegal aliens are collecting food stamps, meaning that most of the people getting food stamps from the U.S. Government and the U.S. Taxpayer are not even Americans.” “Think about that.” “And we didn’t know about any of this before the government shutdown started.” “But thanks to Democrats, we can confirm tonight that millions of Joe Biden, illegal aliens, people who crossed the border when Joe was president, are now collecting food stamps from a program funded by hardworking American taxpayers.”

Political scientist here 👋 You will never have balanced budgets so long as non-taxpayers are allowed to vote.
You want to bring down prices, you need to reinforce the value of our dollars by balancing budgets. I don't have the idea all these politicians saying they'll bring prices down understand that.

More importantly, the number of asylum claimants in Canada is absolutely off the chain. Just five years ago, it was 160,000. It's now *500,000.* And these are the worst kinds of immigrants: The ones most likely to do crime, be on welfare, to hold extremist beliefs.
I was actually really surprised to discover that the number of foreign workers in Canada is *higher than it's ever been.* All Carney has done is slow the intake (and even that's still pretty high).

No, this is a sign of social atomization and heavier marijuana use Pretty much all of the West's great accomplishments came while its leading men were drinking heavily Wellington was considered a light drinker as he had a bottle of wine a day on campaign conquering India. Georgian and Victorian Britain conquered the world while led by "six-bottle men". Washington loved to toss back Madeira after dinner, every night, while hosting visitors constantly at Mount Vernon Meanwhile the ganja enjoyers were sitting around in their huts

We have Carney putting up to $1.6 billion of taxpayer money into Cohere, an AI company, "on a commercial basis." Simple question here that nobody seems willing to ask: If it's such a good commercial bet, where's the commercial money? Remember six weeks ago? Carney's Investment Summit? The one that was supposed to bring in all those international asset managers with trillions of dollars under management but ended with Canada's banks pledging about $325 billion and pension funds about $100 billion to "build Canada"? And RBC launched a $1.4 billion fund for high-growth tech? And Radical Ventures, already a Cohere backer, launched a $4 billion fund so Canadian AI companies could "scale up and stay Canadian"? Guess who's leading the new Cohere funding round here that Carney joined in? Germany's Schwarz Group, the owner of Lidl. Who's ending up the backstop? You the taxpayer. So why is Carney playing with this? Because that Canadian money is going to the American labs: • RBC is in the bank group behind OpenAI's credit facility • Ontario Teachers' put their money into Anthropic • Brookfield, Carney's old firm? Joined Anthropic's recent $65 billion round In other words Bay Street is placing bets on Silicon Valley because they like the odds more. So taxpayers get to roll the dice with the domestic one. Also look at the scale because outlets like CTV News sure will not. Anthropic just raised US$65 billion at a US$965 billion valuation. OpenAI raised US$122 billion. Cohere's whole round targets C$7 billion. AI is very "frontier" and with that, like a lot of the sphere, is a capital furnace. Ottawa's $1.6 billion won't even come close to closing that gap. It's amount is equivalent to a rounding error on a Silicon Valley term sheet. And this is on top of the $240 million Ottawa already gave Cohere in 2024. And, of course, the detailed terms are undisclosed as per Carney's "School of Trust Me Bro". And Cohere had to sign a pledge to stay Canadian after merging with a German company a few months ago. When the banks and pension funds Carney toasted in September won't write the cheque, that's Mr. Market doing the talking and the answering at the same time.

You nuked your own credibility during covid when you advocated for independent businesses to be dependent on the government for handouts. Now you want them dependent on foreign labor instead of hiring Canadian kids a fair wage. Gross.
Over my 30 year career at CFIB, the Temporary Foreign Worker program has been one of the most challenging files. Employers who use it have become an easy target. While there are legitimate criticisms, the rhetoric is oven over the top (such as the recent UN report). The program has been a huge net winner for Canadian employers, Canadian workers and foreign workers too. One of its features is that the dial can be turned up or down, depending on the current labour market. It was entirely reasonable for the government to turn the dial up after the pandemic as the labour market was broken and employers were desperate for people in so many occupational categories. It is also reasonable for the government to turn the dial down today as the labour supply has improved. Today's changes will have serious negative consequesnces for many sectors and communities. While care was taken with agri-business/food, construction and health care, other important sectors will be hit hard - particularly hospitality and travel/tourism. The 10% cap will be a disaster in resort communities (eg. Banff and Whistler) where there is virtually no one available to work. While wages are always a part of the discussion, TFWs are far more expensive than Canadian workers. Not only does government set the prevailing wage rate, but the employer must pay $10-15K in fees and return transportation to the worker's home country. Canada needs to have an adult conversation about the labour market and admit that there are many jobs and locations where there aren't enough Canadians to fill the gaps. TFWs can help supplement the Canadian labour force and ensure Canadians can work. CFIB has consistently supported the TFW program as a pathway to permanent residency. This is the way to balance the relationship between workers and employers.

If Cohere was such a great AI company why do they need the govt to take down 22%of the $7 billion offering. The truth is that mid and low tier AI companies have seen funding dry up. More tax dollars and more govt interference in the capital markets. leading in AI... c'mon who is buying this.. and if so the offering would be oversubscribed instead of taking from the taxpayer.
BREAKING - Mark Carney says Canada will invest up to $1.6 billion in Canadian AI company Cohere. Carney made the announcement today in Montreal as he welcomed European Union leaders for the EU Summit. Carney said that, under the agreement, Cohere will stay Canadian.

The attacks on Russian Oil Refineries should be considered an attack on the United States by a madman from Ukraine. Trump is going to have to deal with Ukraine...because he struck a big Russian diesel deal for the U.S. and this flies in the face of it. NATO IN CONFLICT... Should we consider NATO dead?

Everyone is furious at the prankster. They are missing the real tragedy. Man A wakes up at 5 AM, works 10 stores, and misses his 4 kids' bedtime— yet still can’t afford his mortgage. Boy B produces nothing, mocks working men with a phone, and makes thousands in clout. The problem isn't a pizza company. It’s a broken system that punishes the Builder and rewards the Parasite. When a father’s sweat buys less than a clown’s disrespect, a nation loses its soul. Restore the dignity of honest work.
