Historic Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium Hosts MVC Showdown The @Skyline_Chili Crosstown Showdown presented by @mercy_health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine turns it attention to the @MiamiValleyConf in Week Nine of the high school football season, as @CHCA_football looks to extend its winning streak to seven games and clinch its MVC divisional championship. To do so, CHL (7-1, 1-0 MVC) will have to get past longtime small-school power @RogerBaconFB (2-6, 0-0) Friday night in St. Bernard. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at historic Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium, home of Roger Bacon football since 1954. The stadium received a new field design and turf after a storm sewer overflowed during heavy rains in August and contaminated the original turf. The @TheMotzGroup installed the new turf quickly, and the Spartans’ football, boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are back playing at their home stadium. CHCA and Roger Bacon have split six meetings since 2020, with Roger Bacon winning the first three and CHCA evening the series this decade with three consecutive victories – including a 36-21 home win last season when the Eagles finished 10-2. CHCA, a combined 26-5 the last two seasons plus, is led by senior quarterback @Nolan_Lum – who has thrown for 1,272 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead a balanced offense. The Eagles’ defense has allowed just 95 points in eight games and posted three shutouts in a row – outscoring opponents, 109-0, during that span. @CoachRenfroe CHCA team is No. 3 behind unbeaten Wyoming and London in the latest Division IV, Region 16 Harbin computer ratings. Roger Bacon needs victories in its final two games for the chance to earn one of the 12 regional berths into the Ohio state playoffs. The Spartans sit No. 16 in the 29-team region after eight weeks. The top four regional seeds receive first-round byes in the postseason. Roger Bacon is led offensively by a pair of freshmen in quarterback @12caleb_ Nashi and dual-threat @ericcodyjr_12. Nashi has thrown for 689 yards and seven TDs while Cody leads the Spartans in rushing, with 368 yards and five scores, and receiving, with 17 catches for 141 yards and two scores. Senior Jerome Smith has rushed for 323 yards, averaging 7.4 yards per carry.
