2 games into his stint at left tackle, Lions’ Penei Sewell is learning how difficult it is to switch sides of the OL. There’s a reason why only 1 player in NFL history has ever made the transition at an All-Pro level. Tristan Wirfs is 1 of 1. thepewterplank.com/penei-sew…

I don’t think the Bucs are a bad team, despite the small Week 1 sample size. But…they’re nowhere near in the same league as the Bills. It’s like the two teams are playing different sports in different planetary systems. Yikes.

Not as easy as Tristan Wirfs makes it look 👀
The Tristan Wirfs fanhive must be at all time high right now because Penei Sewell looks horrible at LT

Todd Bowles is sick of answering questions about the Bucs Week 1 loss. “I addressed all these things on Sunday and Monday. We have moved on to Cleveland so, I’m kind of over Cincinnati personally.” Bucs HC is ready to turn the corner.

Baker Mayfield had quite the entrance to his press conference today. He seemingly had a friendly wager with Todd Bowles, whose son plays for Michigan. With Oklahoma losing to Michigan last weekend, Mayfield took the podium wearing a Troy Bowles Michigan jersey

Super encouraging to see the Buccaneers toward the top of the league in using pre-snap motion and play-action passes. Zac Robinson’s offense provided plenty to get excited about in Week 1, but his players let him down with turnovers. Could have realistically cruised to 30-plus points if they took better care of the ball. Bucs certainly have some things to clean up, but this has the makings of a very productive offense.
Week 1 pre-snap shift/motion and play-action percentage on dropbacks. We *usually* see the league's smarter (and better) offenses in the top right corner of charts like these.

Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins combined for 5 catches for 71 yards yesterday and a big reason was the play of 2nd year CB Benjamin Morrison who had a fantastic game. His tackling especially stood out. A welcome sight for Bucs fans. #Bucsfilm2026wk1

Look, I’m a Todd Bowles defender but…idk man. Either this is just a horrendous scheme or he has such abysmal grip on his dudes and where they need to be. This is embarrassing.

Todd Bowles delivered some good news on Jacob Parrish in his press conference today, revealing that the second-year CB is dealing with a back sprain but X-Rays and MRIs came back negative. Parrish was playing a great game Sunday before exiting with injury.

As absolutely pitiful and pathetic as the Browns looked this week, if the Bucs struggle at all against them we’ve officially got a problem. That’s a get-right game against a horrendous team.

Baker Mayfield takes the blame for Week 1’s loss: “This one falls on me. I think they had like 17 points off of my turnovers and it turns out to be a one-score game.”

Takeaways from Bucs’ Week 1 loss to Bengals: 🏴‍☠️ Baker Mayfield needs to protect the football better. 3 fumbles is inexcusable. 🏴‍☠️ The passing game was very efficient. Mayfield completed 82% of his passes and the WRs looked solid. 🏴‍☠️ OL needs to be a lot better after giving up 4 sacks today. 🏴‍☠️ Josiah Trotter played out of his mind! Future is bright at the LB spot. 🏴‍☠️ In contrast, Alex Anzalone looked BAD. 🏴‍☠️ Todd Bowles came with a great gameplan to slow down Ja’Marr Chase, who had just 12 yards. Bucs lost by one possession despite a flukey 4-turnover performance. They’ll bounce back from this. Plenty of positives to take away.

That’s game. Bucs lose 33-27 in the season opener to the Bengals. They showed some fight and hung in there despite 4 turnovers. Expect a bounce back next week against the lowly Browns.
