🙋🏻♂️👇 Bingo! Most federal prisoners are career criminals. For those few prisoners burdened by factual innocence and/or legal innocence, the trauma of imprisonment is very different.
For an even smaller subset, the deprivation of liberty while in the inherently dangerous custody of hood-rats, barrio-rats, prison gangs, and psychopathic guards is surreal.
That tiny sliver is the wrongfully imprisoned who have a background in the military (especially a combat arms MOS), the federal Civil Service (especially criminal law enforcement), lawmaking, or the practice of law or politics (all of the above in my case).
And of course the smallest class of all: @realDonaldTrump/@POTUS associates in the custody of @AGToddBlanche’s predecessors.
I reread George Orwell’s 1984 while interned at Donald J. Trump FCI. My cellie @RealPNavarro chuckled when I highlighted the following line: “The majority of them were common criminals, but there were a few political prisoners among them.”
Nothing felt like a bigger betrayal than seeing “United States of America vs. Jeremy Harrell."
I served this country honorably in peace and war. I served my fellow Veterans and First Responders who were struggling with the same tenacity. The result was walking into a federal prison past the American flag that I gave so much to. The story is worse than it sounds.
