The June solstice has passed, which means we have a fresh update for our WFO Plant List! The big news since December is we now have more than 200 named co-authors on the WFO Plant List. Watch to see what else is new and visit worldfloraonline.org to browse the Plant List.
Thanks to The Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve for hosting the World Flora Online’s 24th Council Meeting last week! Around 40 individuals, representing 16 countries, participated in our latest meeting in person and virtually.
We look forward to our meeting hosted by @bsi_moefcc

Happy Valentine's Day from WFO!
Instead of flowers, we're hoping for rose and violet experts to help us build more Taxonomic Expert Networks, or TENs.
Know a Rosaceae and Violaceae expert? Reach out to us at [email protected].
Dec. 21 marked the solstice, which means we have a fresh update for our WFO Plant List! A new version of the Plant List is released every six months in conjunction with the solstices. Swipe through to see what’s new since June.
We are so proud to share that the latest Global Strategy for Plant Conservation specifically recognizes the World Flora Online as an essential part of plant conservation. Watch to learn more about the history of GSPC and WFO.
Happy Halloween from WFO, where we’re looking for Great Pumpkin experts to form a Cucurbitaceae TEN, or Taxonomic Expert Network.

We approved 6 new Taxonomic Expert Networks, or TENs, at our 23rd Council Meeting.
TENS are an essential part of WFO and improve the WFO taxonomic backbone. We now have 54 TENs, but more are needed!

We have a fresh update for our Plant List!
The WFO Plant List is the consensus list of names used as the taxonomic backbone of the WFO portal. A new version is released every six months.
Check out the latest update at wfoplantlist.org
We're excited to announce that we recently added distribution data from the @kewgardens Checklist of Vascular Plants to the WFO portal. These data are now available as text and as maps and include distributions of both native and introduced species.
What makes some plant groups so successful? Researchers from @tcddublin are using WFO data to find out why “big plant genera,” which comprise more than 500 species, dominate Earth. This research wouldn’t be possible without WFO, an international, collaborative initiative!
‼️ Big news for WFO!! @catalogueoflife will incorporate our Conifer Taxonomic Expert Network, or TEN.
The WFO Conifer TEN is the first of our well-curated groups to be approved for inclusion in COL. This significantly extends the impact and uptake of the work of TENs and WFO!
We’re looking to create more Taxonomic Expert Networks (TENs). TENs help improve the WFO taxonomic backbone and curate a global consensus classification. If you and your colleagues would be interested in developing a TEN contact [email protected].
