💰 That $60,000 College Might NOT Cost You $60,000! One of the biggest mistakes families make in the recruiting process is eliminating colleges based on the sticker price alone. 🚨 Sticker price is NOT always what you’ll actually pay! Financial aid, academic scholarships, and other opportunities can make schools far more affordable than you think. 🎥 Before you cross a college off your list because of cost, WATCH THIS VIDEO! Don’t eliminate opportunities before you know the real numbers.

This may surprise you. ‼️ But after many combined years of coaching and recruiting, we've come to believe that for many high school athletes... 👉 D3 or JC is the BEST place to start their college careers. There’s nothing wrong with high school athletes aspiring to play at the D1 level, but the recruiting landscape has changed. Many high-level programs at the D1, D2, and NAIA levels are prioritizing transfers over high school athletes. So where does that leave high school athletes? 🤷🏼‍♂️ There are A LOT of D3 and JC programs across the country, creating a wide range of potential opportunities. Many of these programs provide excellent environments for athletes to develop, gain experience, and contribute early. 👍 We're not suggesting that every high school athlete should choose a D3 or JC college, but we ARE suggesting that families consider what a successful recruiting outcome looks like. 🤔 The goal should be to find a program where your athlete can develop, compete, and have a meaningful college experience. If you're unsure which college levels provide the most realistic opportunities for your athlete, message us and ask to schedule a free recruiting consultation and we'll tell you. 💬

⚾ “He’s a D1 player.” “He’s a D3 player.” Says WHO? 🤔 Too many people throw around college baseball evaluations without understanding the full context of a player’s ability, development, and recruiting opportunities. Be careful who you listen to. An evaluation without context can do more harm than good. 🎥 CAA breaks down why in this video. Watch before you take someone’s evaluation as fact!

🎯 THE FINAL STEP: BUILD YOUR TARGET LIST WITH PURPOSE! A successful college recruiting target list isn’t just about picking schools. It’s about creating a plan and staying organized. At CAA, we recommend athletes build a list of 40–80 college programs and divide them into categories: 🔹 High-Priority Targets – Schools that are strong fits academically, athletically, and personally. 🔹 Explore – Programs worth researching and learning more about as opportunities develop. Once your list is built, TRACK EVERYTHING! ✅ Coach communication and responses ✅ Recruiting interest from programs ✅ Camps and showcases attended or planned ✅ Conversations and relationships developed ✅ Follow-ups and next steps A well-organized target list creates direction, accountability, and a more efficient recruiting process.

One of the biggest and most common mistakes that families make at the start of the recruiting process? 👇 Not keeping an open mind. Players and families often start with a specific list of preferences. But the reality is that your athlete doesn’t get to simply choose where they want to play. The coaching staff has to want them, too, and they have A LOT of athletes to choose from. That's why the FIRST filter in your college search should be the coach’s interest level. The process works best when athletes are willing to explore ALL opportunities before deciding which are the best fit. Otherwise, they may miss schools that could offer a great experience simply because they filtered them out too early. Keep your options open early so you have more choices later. If your athlete wants to play in college but you're unsure which schools to target or how to generate genuine recruiting interest, comment below or message us and ask to schedule a free recruiting consultation. Don't start by asking which colleges your athlete would choose… Start by discovering which colleges might choose your athlete. 👌

Congratulations to 2028 RHP Bryce Floyd from Holy Innocents' Episcopal School on his commitment to the University of Missouri! One of Georgia's premier arms in the 2028 class, Bryce has earned his place among the state's elite, representing Team Georgia at the PBR Future Games, earning multiple Perfect Game First Team All-American honors, and ranking among the top right-handed pitchers in Georgia. With a fastball reaching 92 MPH, an impressive breaking ball over 2700 RPMs, Bryce has established himself as a high-level competitor with tremendous upside. His ability to attack hitters and compete against top competition has opened the door to one of college baseball's biggest stages. Missouri is getting an exciting young arm with the talent and drive to compete in the SEC! Congratulations to Bryce, his family, and everyone who has been part of his journey. The work continues, and we can't wait to watch what's ahead in Columbia! @MizzouBaseball @floydbr28

BUILDING A TARGET LIST: STOP PLAYING THE NAME GAME! ⚾️ One of the biggest mistakes families make when building a college recruiting target list is choosing schools based on name recognition. Most high school athletes and parents have only heard of a small percentage of the colleges that offer opportunities to play baseball. So what happens when they start building their list? They gravitate toward schools they recognize. That’s a mistake. There’s a very good chance your athlete will end up attending a college they’ve never even heard of when they first started the recruiting process. And that could be the PERFECT FIT! The goal isn’t to find the biggest name. It’s to find the right opportunity. ✅ Athletic fit ✅ Academic fit ✅ Financial fit ✅ Social and personal fit ✅ Opportunity to develop and compete A school’s name doesn’t determine its value to your athlete. If you’re building your target list based on brand recognition, prestige, or notoriety, you’re likely overlooking some tremendous opportunities. Take the name off the jersey. Evaluate the opportunity. Find the FIT. That’s how you build an effective college recruiting target list. #CollegeAthleteAdvantage #CollegeBaseballRecruiting #RecruitingTips #CollegeRecruiting #FindYourFit #CAA

Well said 👇
We're seeing a lot of decommitments in college baseball. I think it's important to understand WHY. This didn't happen overnight. Follow the dominoes. 👇 2020: COVID. The NCAA grants spring athletes an additional year of eligibility. Players stay in college longer. Rosters get older. Opportunities for incoming freshmen become more competitive. Then the professional pipeline changes. MLB cuts its draft from 40 rounds to 20. Affiliated minor league teams shrink from 162 to 120. Fewer traditional opportunities to enter professional baseball. Now look at the roster math. Before COVID, D1 baseball operated with a 35-man roster limit. During the eligibility crunch, temporary allowances eventually expanded rosters to 40 players. Beginning in 2025-26, programs participating in the House settlement moved to a 34-man roster limit, with exceptions for certain players. That's SIX fewer standard roster spots compared to the temporary 40-man allowance. Now add the transfer portal. Nearly 2,700 D1 baseball players entered the portal during the June 2026 window alone. Programs have access to thousands of experienced college players competing for opportunities. Throw in NIL, revenue sharing, and the shift from the old 11.7-scholarship model to the possibility of funding scholarships across all 34 roster spots at participating programs. And now the NCAA's new age-based eligibility model can allow qualifying athletes up to FIVE years of competition within a continuous five-year window, replacing the traditional four-seasons-in-five-years model. Think about what all of this means. A college coach can genuinely believe in a high school prospect when he commits. But by the time that player arrives on campus, the roster, budget, available transfer talent, and immediate needs of the program could look completely different. College baseball has become an increasingly competitive roster-management business. And the pressure to WIN NOW is real. Does that excuse every decommitment? Absolutely not. But I also don't believe every decommitment represents a lack of loyalty. Here's what concerns me most. We're asking teenagers and their families to make decisions about their futures in a system that can change dramatically before they ever step foot on campus. The rules changed. The economics changed. The roster math changed. But the hopes and dreams of those kids haven't. And somewhere in the middle of all this change, we cannot lose sight of the people affected by it. @prepbaseball
