$NVDA at $327 (+50%) in one year? π
Here's what that scenario assumes:
β’ 15M AI chips sold
β’ $40K NVIDIA revenue per chip
β’ 70% gross margin
Too bullish? Or not bullish enough?

π¨ $GOOGL: WALL STREET LOVES AI GROWTH UNTIL SOMEONE HAS TO PAY FOR IT.
- Google reported $127.6B in revenue, up 25%.
- Google Cloud more than doubled to $30.7B
- Operating income increased 30% to $40.6B.
Yet we saw a 12% $GOOGL selloff.
To understand this, let's discuss it in detail:
1. THE FREE CASH FLOW NUMBER IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM.
Google generated $42.3B in operating cash flow during Q3. It sounds excellent, right?
Now look at capex. $51.4B in a single quarter. That's $9.1B in negative free cash flow. And to remind you all, Q2 free cash flow was already negative $5.9B. π
So Google has now reported two consecutive quarters where capital spending exceeded operating cash generation.
Wall Street had expected Google to come close to breaking even on FCF this quarter. Instead, the cash deficit got worse.
For years, investors loved Google because Search generated huge amounts of cash that could fund other businesses, acquisitions and buybacks. Now AI infrastructure is consuming more cash than the business generates in a quarter.
2. THE MANAGEMENT JUST TOLD INVESTORS THE SPENDING ISN'T SLOWING DOWN IN 2027.
Google maintained its 2026 capex outlook of $195Bβ$205B.
But the CFO also said capital spending will increase significantly in 2027.
We're already looking at more than $50B in quarterly capex and management is saying the next year will require even more investment.
I understand why Google needs this infrastructure. AI demand is enormous, and the company is competing against $MSFT, $AMZN, $META and others.
But the market wants to know when this investment cycle starts producing enough incremental cash to justify the spending.
Google hasn't given investors a specific timetable for a FCF recovery comparable to what $ORCL outlined at its Investor Day. I suspect that's contributing to the reaction.
3. THE EPS MISS HURTS BUT IT'S NOT THE ENTIRE HEADLINE.
Google reported EPS of $2.12 against approximately $3.02 expected.
At first glance, that's a pretty ugly miss. But the company recorded an $8.7B loss on equity securities, which reduced EPS by approximately $0.55 after tax.
That's largely a non-operating investment valuation issue rather than evidence that Google's core businesses suddenly became less profitable.
If we add that $0.55 back, EPS would be approximately $2.67. Still below expectations.
The investment loss explains a large part of the earnings disappointment, but it doesn't explain everything. Operating income was $40.6B, below the roughly $43.2B analysts expected.
So there was also an operating level miss below the investment accounting.
4. GOOGLE CLOUD WAS INCREDIBLE BUT SEARCH AND ADVERTISING MISSED EXPECTATIONS.
- Cloud revenue reached $30.7B, growing 103% year over year.
- Even better, Cloud operating income increased from $3.6B to $11.1B.
That's a 36% operating margin. I'm genuinely impressed by that.
But Google's advertising revenue was $82B, approximately $1.4B below Wall Street expectations. Search revenue grew 12%, slowing from approximately 17% growth in the previous quarter. YouTube advertising grew around 9%.
These are still healthy growth rates but Search is the business that historically funded Google's enormous investments.
Investors need confidence that the cash generated by advertising can support the AI spending cycle.
5. THERE'S SOMETHING IMPORTANT ABOUT THAT 103% CLOUD GROWTH FIGURE.
Google specifically said TPU system sales were a meaningful contributor to Cloud revenue growth.
I wouldn't ignore this detail. Selling TPU systems is different from collecting recurring revenue from customers consuming cloud services. Hardware related revenue can involve different margins, working capital requirements and revenue timing.
So while the 103% growth is extremely bullish for Google's AI infrastructure business, I wouldn't automatically assume every dollar comes from recurring cloud consumption.
There's another issue. Management said Google has started using third party compute capacity because demand is exceeding available supply.
That capacity usage will increase in Q4, and management expects near term Cloud margin pressure. So Google is growing Cloud extremely quickly but part of the additional demand is becoming more expensive to serve.
6. GOOGLE IS ALSO RAISING CAPITAL WHILE SPENDING HEAVILY.
During Q3, Google issued approximately $12.4B in common shares and raised another $28.7B through senior unsecured notes.
Its ATM equity program still had $27.6B available for future issuance at the end of September. Long term debt also increased from $46.5B at the end of 2025 to $125.1B in September 2026.
We should be careful here. Google isn't running out of money. It reported $265B in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities.
That's an enormous liquidity position but its management is simultaneously increasing debt, issuing equity and investing heavily in infrastructure.
This changes how shareholders have to think about the business. More shares mean future profits are spread across a larger shareholder base. More debt creates additional interest obligations.
Investors want to see whether the returns on Google's AI investments can grow faster than those financing costs.
7. THE AI COST BASE IS ALSO MOVING HIGHER.
- Research and development expenses increased from $15.2B to $20.6B.
- Depreciation increased from $5.6B to $8.4B.
- Alphabet level operating expenses, largely associated with shared AI research and development, produced a $7.7B operating loss compared with $4.5B a year earlier.
Even after Google finishes building a data center, the spending won't disappear. The equipment depreciates, it consumes electricity, cooling systems need to operate, and newer accelerator generations eventually require additional investment.
The infrastructure has to generate enough incremental profit to cover those ongoing costs.

π¨ $ORCL: What if AI demand isn't the problem?
What if paying for it is?
Oracle reported $28.5B in capital expenditures against $23.1B in operating cash flow over the reported period.
AI demand can be real. The financing headache can be real too.
Oracle's Oct. 28 Investor Day just got a lot more interesting.
If you held $TSLA through earnings, that -3.1% reaction stings.
Before the report, we highlighted Tesla's last 4 earnings:
4 EPS misses.
3 negative stock reactions.
This time? Tesla finally BEAT EPS estimates.
The stock still fell 3.1%.
A better quarter doesn't always mean a better stock reaction.
That's why we study earnings history BEFORE the numbers come out.
What matters more for Tesla now: earnings or expectations?
Yesterday, we flagged $WDC:
4 straight EPS beats.
3 negative post-earnings reactions.
Today, WDC beat EPS and revenue estimates again.
And the stock fell again.
5 EPS beats. 4 negative reactions.
Beating expectations isn't always enough when expectations are already sky-high.
We flagged the pattern before the earnings release.
