All I want for Christmas is for the @GCRTA Blue Line to connect @Shakersquare to University Circle @inthecircle & the Cleveland Clinic via light rail subway. Adelbert Rd alignment best serves @cwru & University Hospital. Car-free/light connection from housing to jobs & services!

Across the country, people will claim "roundabouts will be dangerous because people don't understand them." The truth is that roundabouts have an incredible success rate, both in lowering speeds and reducing severe crashes. Carmel, IN is our country's roundabout capital. They replaced 120 stop lights with roundabouts and this happened: 🚨 90% drop in fatal crashes 🚨 40% drop in total crashes 🚨 $21.6 million saved in long-term maintenance (That doesn't even include the enormous financial savings of preventing crashes.)

The prelim analysis I obtained found passing BAAJA would lead to 167 gigawatts of more solar being deployed, 51% less natural gas capacity being added from 2028-2035, and power sector carbon emissions falling 20% during that period. Read it here punchbowl.news/baaja-impact-…

Amy Acton's stepfather's surviving biological daughter spoke to The Daily Mail when they knocked on her door in Ohio, while sobbing. She said: She believed Amy's story, because her father raped her sister more than once (the victim in this 1974 indictment); she remembered Amy lived in a tent with Donna and Cledith; it's been terrible for her family to see Vivek's ad run in Ohio; and she heard rumors her father had victimized even more young girls.
NEW: I obtained the full Trumbull County file for Amy Acton's stepfather's 1974 charge which shows that he was indicted for incest involving his 16-year-old biological daughter in 1973. The sheriff was then unable to locate him to serve him a summons in the county and nothing further happened in the case. Donna Arthur, featured in Vivek Ramaswamy's still-running campaign ad, married Cledith the next year in a neighboring county.

People think 10-15 over is no big deal. What they miss is that SPEED (not speeding) is the problem on city and suburban streets. Regardless of the speed limit, 40MPH is a likely death sentence for a pedestrian who's hit. $400 for driving 40 in a city seems right.

I want every dog owner to hear this: every dog who has violently attacked me, someone I know, or a dog I was walking had an owner that assured me this never happens and their dog is safe. Your assessment of your own dog means nothing to me. I don’t trust you to evaluate your dog’s safety. Just put it on a damn leash, and don’t be a tiny woman with a dog that can easily overpower you. I don’t care how well you “know your dog”. That’s what every owner of a shitty dog says.
I genuinely do think there are a lot of basically good people who have never really thought about the ways in which they are behaving badly as dog owners, because nobody ever really calls them out for it. If your dog is ever off leash, you are being antisocial and behaving badly. If your dog ever jumps on somebody who didn’t specifically ask for that to happen, then you are behaving antisocially (even if the dog is just being “friendly”). If you have an invisible fence in your yard, but your dog comes running right up to the line at full speed only to stop at the last minute and bark at everybody who walks by, then you are behaving antisocially. Honestly, even behind a fence, this is an aggressive and annoying imposition on anybody walking by. If somebody has ever respond with fear or annoyance at something your dog has done and you’ve reflexively protested, “oh don’t worry, he won’t hurt you” or “he’s friendly” then that’s antisocial behavior. (You should just simply say, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that, I won’t let it happen again” and then you should work to actually make it not happen again. Telling people not to worry, that you think your dog is just peachy, is bad behavior.) This is all bad behavior. It’s all antisocial. And I have these experiences with dogs and their owners routinely. This is all extremely common stuff.

WSJ front page: American roads becoming deadlier for peds Austin has long req’d 25’ of clear fire access, the standard fire code requires 20’. Wider streets encourage dangerous speeds We need to build fire trucks around the city we want, not build our city around fire trucks
Less than 5% of fire department calls are for fires and yet, the FDs insist on an 18-ton truck and four person crew to attend a 78 y/o woman with chest pain. At this point, fire trucks are mostly branding. FDs have become a spectacularly expensive EMS service. Time for reform

It totally kicks ass that I can get on a train in Albuquerque at 2:19pm, ride the 60 miles to Santa Fe in comfort, hit the George RR Martin Sky Railways scenic RR, have a great meal, and catch the 9pm train back to ABQ. What a day! And it started in CLE, flying through ORD

The fietsvlonder (bike platform) has been reshaping Rotterdam streets for a decade. It swaps one car parking space for a temporary structure that accommodates a dozen bicycles. If successful after a few months, the curb is permanently rebuilt, and it moves to the next location.

a car lane on a city street moves somewhere between 600 and 1,600 people an hour. a protected bike lane can move 7,500. a bus lane can do 8,000. we keep picking the option with the worst numbers and calling everyone who notices an ideologue

Fareless transit doesn't redistribute wealth from the rich to the working class. It redistributes transit's inherently finite operating budget away from running service.
