Everyday life for the middle class is getting more expensive. To earn the trust of the American people, policy makers need to turn their attention to our 5 tickets🎟️to the middle class:
1. Retirement
2. Child Care
3. College
4. Housing
5. Health Care

We believe that data centers must protect families’ utility bills, benefit communities broadly, and operate transparently. Really encouraging to see commitments that move in this direction.

Recent events have exposed how unprepared we are for the risks of powerful AI. Yet the President continues to resist regulation and dismiss safety concerns as a “hoax.”
Serious, bipartisan work in Congress is moving toward those guardrails. It shows that protecting Americans and advancing innovation go hand in hand.
Good to see this new effort tackling dishonest hospital billing before federal rules kick in. Some hospitals charge higher rates after acquiring a physician practice - even when that practice isn’t on the hospital campus.
Patients shouldn’t pay more just because a hospital bought their doctor’s office. It’s time to end that. axios.com/2026/09/29/insurer…
Appreciate @SenMarkKelly’s serious leadership and proactive thinking on AI’s impact on the workforce. Hardworking Americans should be the first to benefit as AI develops. These worker-centered proposals are exactly the kind of forward-looking debate Congress needs.

Third Way proposed something similar in our recent paper, "A New Economic Bargain: 20 Ideas to Change the Lives of Working America."

NEW: @GovernorVA is out with an accountability framework for data centers.
Spanberger is forcing developers to increase transparency, strengthen environmental protections, lower energy costs, bolster grid reliability, and deliver a better deal for Virginia workers.

Good to see @repkmr putting a spotlight on a critical question: how do we make sure that data centers are paying their fair share? This bill adds to an important debate about how communities hosting data centers can actually share the benefits

AI industry leaders are calling for frontier AI development to slow down and for more safety oversight, as current trajectories pose serious risks. Congress needs to start acting on this.
TW’s Director of Technology Policy, Ruth Whittaker, and Deputy Director for Electricity, Francesca Hsie, have our view on the AI regulation situation at hand:
1️⃣ Lawmakers must address the larger questions about AI safety and development. Voters are demanding guardrails.
2️⃣ The bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act is an important step in regulating AI, but not the only step.
3️⃣ Congress needs to require greater transparency around data center energy and water demands, and their effects on host communities.
4️⃣ And we need a national safety framework.
The Child Tax Credit is one of the most important federal supports for America’s working families. The bipartisan Stronger Start for Working Families Act will help even more families by parents start benefiting at the first dollar they earn. pappas.house.gov/media/press…
Thank you @RepHorsford, @RepCarolMiller, @RepChrisPappas, & @RepMariaSalazar for leading on this important piece of legislation.

People who work hard are falling further behind because of the policies of Donald Trump and your neighborhood Republican Party. Voters all over the county want to know what we will do about it, so Democrats need solutions that people can feel right away. That’s what I like about @ThirdWayTweet’s New Economic Bargain - it’s ideas to lower costs on health care, energy bills, childcare, and car loans and to help workers build wealth and get ahead. Democrats would be smart to lean in here because these are ideas that would resonate on the worksite, in the barber shop, and with moms worried about making ends meet.

I like #16 on the list. An Apprenticeships U model focused on skilled trades in all 50 states is a great idea. It might be able to be executed quicker by simply providing technical schools in all 50 states far more resources than they currently have.
Replying to @ThirdWayTweet
These ideas are ruthlessly pragmatic and would deliver results quickly that Americans can actually feel in their lives. All could get done with the right president and a Congress that gets the message that we need to prioritize results for working people.
But don’t mistake the ambition: the impact would be transformative, making working Americans more secure, more prosperous, and more hopeful about the future.
