As a Nigerian immigrant who was bullied severely as a child when I moved to the states, this is such heartbreaking news. Javits Frimpong, a 15-year-old Ghanaian boy, was shot and killed while reportedly walking to school in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday, October 29, 2026. CCTV footage captured the moment Javits was running for his life shortly before he was fatally shot. His father, Thomas Frimpong, disclosed that the school’s principal had informed him three days earlier that two students had been bullying Javits and had been suspended for a week.

His name was Javits Frimpong. He was 15. An African immigrant, this hits so close to home. We come here carrying so much hope for a better life. To lose your child in the place you hoped they’d thrive is devastating. He deserved to grow up. My heart goes out to his family 💔
