New on Instant: accounts 🔑 Create a free account and access your saved domains from any device. Accounts have no save limit, and bulk searches jump from 500 to 5,000 domains per run. The search itself stays free, the way it's been for 20 years. Accounts are just the foundation for what's next, deeper checks, valuations, lists, an API, and account holders get all of it first. Create yours in about 30 seconds, link below 👇

In the last 6 months at @Ahrefs, we analyzed over 1 billion data points across 14 studies. Here's what we learned about AI search optimization: 1) "Best X" blog listicles are the single most prominent content format cited by AI chatbots. They make up 43.8% of all page types cited by ChatGPT specifically. 2) 67% of ChatGPT's top 1,000 citations come from sources marketers can't influence: Wikipedia (29.7%), homepages (23.8%), app stores (6.6%). Only 32.3% are influenceable content like educational pages, reviews, news, and blog posts. 3) 28.3% of ChatGPT's most-cited pages have zero Google organic visibility. These pages get cited repeatedly by ChatGPT despite not ranking in Google at all. A completely separate discovery layer. 4) ChatGPT only cites about 50% of the URLs it retrieves. It fetches dozens of pages per query but uses half as background context without attribution. This means that being retrieved and being cited are very different things. 5) Adding schema markup had zero meaningful impact on AI citations. AI Overviews actually dipped −4.6%, while AI Mode (+2.4%) and ChatGPT (+2.2%) showed changes indistinguishable from zero. 6) YouTube mentions have the highest correlation (0.737) with AI brand visibility out of all the factors we studied (including all the conventional SEO metrics like backlinks, page count, DR, etc). This held true for both Google-owned and OpenAI products. 7) AI Overviews reduce clicks to the #1 result by 58%. That’s up from 34.5% just 10 months earlier. The trend is accelerating. 8) 99.9% of AI Overviews appear on informational intent queries. Transactional, navigational, and local searches are almost entirely AIO-free. Shopping triggers AIOs just 3.2% of the time. 9) For a given search query, Google’s AI Mode and AI Overviews reach the same conclusions 86% of the time — but cite almost entirely different sources (only 13.7% citation overlap). 10) AI Overviews change every 2.15 days on average, with 70% of content differing between consecutive observations. But semantic similarity stays at 0.95. The words, sources, and entities constantly shuffle, but the actual meaning barely moves.

The strongest brand names don't sit still, they move. This week's list curates 500 verb & action domains: brand-friendly verbs that imply motion, creation, and momentum, across .com, .io, .ai, .app, .dev, and more. A mix of bare verbs on premium TLDs and verb-plus-modifier compounds, so there's something whether you want a name to register today or a standout aftermarket find. Find the full list at the link below 👇

We (finally) rebuilt light mode at Instant Domain Search! Our team mostly uses our product in dark mode, so that's where the attention went. Light mode became secondary and basically just an inverted version. Then we looked at the data: nearly 40% of our MAU are on light mode 🫨 That sent me back to the drawing board: how can both modes serve different purposes? → Light mode is high contrast, more colorful, and faster to navigate → Dark mode is sleek, easier on the eyes, and uses subtle shades to layer Now, we're finally proud to use our product in light mode. Shipping today, let us know what you think !!

We looked at 50 of the top domain sales so far in April 2026 to see which TLDs are actually winning. A few things that stood out: → It's a two-extension market: .com (40%) and .ai (32%) → .com is still the default for premium buyers. End users will pay up to upgrade to the .com, every time → .ai has officially crossed from alternative to essential, taking a third of top-tier sales is a massive shift for an extension that barely cracked these lists two years ago → Everything else is fighting for scraps. .de, .org, and .co each landed 3-4 sales, and a long tail of single-sale extensions (.xyz, .net, .now, .eu) split the rest The premium aftermarket is consolidating, not fragmenting. If you're sitting on quality .com or .ai inventory, the market is coming to you.

We just shipped a new Saved Domains sidebar on Instant Domain Search 🎉 Domain research is rarely one-and-done, so we rebuilt our saved domains dropdown as a sidebar that sits alongside search. A few things that are new: → Full details view for every saved domain → Activity feed so nothing gets lost between sessions → Bookmark-on-hover right in search results Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Search filters are now fully rolled out on Instant Domain Search. This was the #1 most-requested feature from our users, and it's live now for everyone. What's new: • Filter by availability and price range on the main search • Filter /domain-extensions by category • Filter /aftermarket-domains by price • Filter /domain-generator by extension We spent a lot of time getting the UX right. Check out this video where @maiale breaks down a bit more of our process behind this! You always see the full picture, just with the relevant results forward.

We're rolling out search filters, one of our most-requested features 🎉 You'll now be able to filter domain results by available, premium, aftermarket, and taken to find exactly what you're looking for, even as you type. Building real-time filters into an instant search tool was a serious challenge. Huge shoutout to our team members who made this possible: @maiale, @timbakerx and @clarkedesignco

Exciting news! We're 10x'ing our aftermarket search tool from just .com to the 10 most popular TLDs. Right now, our aftermarket results mostly surface .com domains. Starting this week, we're rolling out support for .net, .org, .online, and more. We want Instant Domain Search to be the best way to find a domain, whether it's a fresh registration or something already on the market. Stay tuned 👀

We pulled Semrush AI Visibility scores for the websites of 5 rising fintech companies. The companies showing up most in AI responses aren't just well-known. They've built content that answers the questions people are actually asking. Revolut stands out with a 79/100 visibility score. Their website covers everything from currency exchange explainers to budgeting guides. When someone asks an LLM about sending money abroad or managing finances, Revolut's site has an answer that AI can easily pull and reference. On the other hand, Bilt has a visibility score of 24/100. There's lots of brand buzz, but there's nothing on their site that helps answer the broader questions people are asking. AI gets questions about rent rewards, it just doesn't have a reason to point to Bilt when answering. Brands that build content around user queries, not just their own product, are the ones AI keeps coming back to. Reference material is key. Check out the stats we pulled ↓

Last month Google showed our pages to over 2M people. Yet 95% of clicks went to interactive tools: domain search, domain generator, bulk search, MCP server. The reason is simple: you can't search for a domain name in a Google snippet. Interactive pages have a moat against zero-click search. While our static content pulls 200k+ impressions + 28k AI citations monthly, the CTR is 21x smaller (0.08%). ChatGPT and Google AI Overview are extracting the value before anyone visits. In fact, the only blog that outperforms its category actually includes interactive charts and live updated data. Now anytime we ship an SEO project, it's with the framework of "show, don't tell." We'd rather build a tool someone has to visit than a page LLMs can summarize.

We just launched our very own Whois Lookup tool 🎉 Look up any domain to get ownership details, registration and expiry dates, nameservers, and more. You can even discover similar domains with a single search. It's our goal to build a full suite of domain tools, so everything you need is all in one place. We built a new domain search tool for @Instantai ! Our challenge: make searching a single domain simple and focused. Unlike our main search tool which is for rapid idea generation, the goal is to give a deep dive into any domain before buying. Try it out, let me know any feedback!
