The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy, with VERY good reason. The rule of 50%+1 has always been the path of least resistance to destruction. So that path was - with great foresight - blocked on many fronts nearly 240 years ago. Study history.

We are a republic of states because of the dangers of majority rule within a direct democracy. Our founders had an aversion to this very outcome and warned against it countless times. Our constitutional failsafe is the 10th amendment and will hold until they capture the majority states. It they conquer Texas and pack the courts with a 4 more Ketanji Brown Jacksons, our republic dies.

A warning to the U.S.: My dear American friends, I say this with love, as someone who has lived among you and owes you a great deal: your midterms are on November 3rd. And the same alliance is growing inside your Democratic Party. The same far-left wing that treats disorder as protest and police as the enemy. The same activists who refuse to draw a line between legitimate dissent and those who openly despise the West. The same politicians who think tolerance means tolerating everything, including the people who want to burn it down. It always starts with excuses. Then comes impunity. Then come the flames. Same causes, same effects. If you create the conditions we created, you will get exactly what we got tonight. France was the country of the Enlightenment, of cathedrals and town halls that stood for centuries. Tonight, one of them collapsed live on social media while the government called for calm. My dear American friends, the only advantage you have over us is that you've been warned. Vote like your city hall depends on it. Because one day, it will. “
Tonight, France burned. America, you should be watching very carefully. Today, October 17, 2026, more than half a million people marched across France against the cost of living. By 8pm, around 400 had been arrested. In Paris, police turned water cannons on the crowds at Place de la République, and one march was stopped 150 meters from the Élysée Palace. Of the 195 people arrested in the capital by the afternoon, only one actually lived in Paris. Mobs forced their way into the city halls of Marseille and Lille. In Lyon, a tourism office was set on fire. In Rennes, barricades burned. Near Limoges, a highway was blocked and police cars were torched. And then came Limoges. A crowd of very young people stormed the city hall, a protected historic monument built in the 1880s. They flipped police cars in front of it and set them ablaze, then set the building itself on fire. The flames took the roof, the wedding hall, and the civil registry, the office that records every birth, every marriage, every death in the city. Tonight, the bell tower that has crowned Limoges for nearly 150 years collapsed. The mayor's response: "It's a monument that is burning, not the Republic." That is the problem in one sentence. Our leaders still think words can put out fires. None of this came out of nowhere. For twenty years, the French political class has excused everything. Every riot was "anger." Every burned car was a "social symptom." Every attack on police was "a reaction to provocation." And the hard left, La France Insoumise, which officially backed today's mobilization, built its electoral machine on an alliance with political Islamism: refusing to condemn, refusing to name, trading secularism and public order for votes. In France we have a word for it. Islamo-gauchisme. Islamo-leftism. Tonight you saw where that culture of excuse ends. A country where a mob can burn down a town hall, and the state arrives after the roof has already fallen in. My dear American friends, I say this with love, as someone who has lived among you and owes you a great deal: your midterms are on November 3rd. And the same alliance is growing inside your Democratic Party. The same far-left wing that treats disorder as protest and police as the enemy. "He will be more expensive if he is good again in 2027". Absolutely! Yet Mune would be even MORE costly should he receive an extension this off-season, only to wind up having a similar - or worse! - season the next go around. The Sox cannot afford a big contract "swing & miss"!
As someone who pounded the drum to extend him in the first half, I feel like they are better off not extending him just yet. They still have him locked in for next year, so there’s no real rush. He will be more expensive if he is good again in 2027, but I’d like to see if he can correct some of his swing and miss issues before giving him a massive contract.

Life. Innocent. Perfect despite pain. Worthy of protection, knowing the price. Peter was precious beyond description. Peter had a personality, unborn as he was. Peter's parents knew this despite the prognosis. Their family is united in eternity. Lord, bless this couple's witness.
🚨HEARTBREAKING: Halfway through her pregnancy, a young mother learned the baby boy growing inside her would not survive outside her womb. She carried him for another four months knowing that for as long as he remained inside her, she could keep him safe. Peter James Raridon was born September 11th. His mom Anna and dad Eli, a rookie tight end for the New England Patriots, learned during their 20-week anatomy scan that Peter had anencephaly, a fatal condition affecting development of the brain and skull. Instead of preparing to bring their first baby home, they spent the remainder of the pregnancy loving him while knowing their time together would likely be painfully short. Anna says she is grateful she got to love Peter, protect him and be his home for nine months. Then she wrote the words that absolutely broke my heart: “I have loved you every second of your life & will miss you every second of mine.” Anna and Eli are leaning heavily on their faith, believing their son’s life had meaning regardless of how brief it was and that their goodbye is not forever. One of the images they shared shows Peter’s tiny footprints inside a Bible. A reminder that this little boy was here, he was deeply loved, and he will always be their son. Please pray for these young parents and for every mother and father who understands the heartbreak of loving a baby they never got to bring home.

3 weeks later, clearly the Indians had learned their lesson. Miggy would NOT be allowed to beat them. Sox need to find Miggy better lineup protection for 2027.
I’m absolutely shocked the Indians didn’t pitch around Miggy to get to Mune. Even thought they might intentionally walking him. So glad they let Miggy hit!

Tennessee’s November 3, 2026 ballot has three constitutional amendments. I’m voting YES on all three, and I encourage you to do the same. Each appears as its own yes/no question. A yes vote adopts the change; a no vote leaves the current language in place. To pass, an amendment needs more yes votes than no votes, and more yes votes than half of all votes cast for governor. 1. Bail — vote YES Courts could hold defendants without bail before trial for a capital offense, an act of terrorism, second-degree murder, aggravated rape of a child, aggravated rape, grave torture, or an offense that requires a convicted defendant to serve at least 85% of the sentence. A judge or magistrate would also have to state on the record the reasons for granting or denying bail in those cases. 2. No state property tax — vote YES The General Assembly would be prohibited from levying, authorizing, or permitting a state tax on real, personal, or mixed property. Local property taxes are not affected. 3. Marsy’s Law (crime victims’ rights) — vote YES Would replace Article I, Section 35 with stronger constitutional rights for crime victims, including fair treatment; notice of and participation in criminal and juvenile proceedings; participation in parole proceedings; protection from harassment and intimidation; notice of an offender’s release or escape; restitution; a speedy resolution; information on the minimum sentence and scheduled release date; and consideration of the safety of the victim, the victim’s family, and the public before certain release decisions. Review the official questions, summaries, and full text on the Secretary of State’s site (GoVoteTN.gov or sos.tn.gov). Early voting is October 14–29. Election Day is November 3. I’m voting YES on all three — please do the same. #propertytaxes #bail #crimevictims #Tennessee

Spot on analysis re: infield depth when Game 4 was effectively decided! Had the Sox infield been at regular depth, at least after the go ahead run was scored, 2B would have fielded soft line drives & Sox would've allowed a single run. Instead, 4 runs scored & the rest is history.
Replying to @JRFegan
The pitch Ramirez hit for the HR was almost in the dirt & you can't win w/ 0 runs. I'm more interested in Sox not playing at DP depth after Taylor entered Game 4. Had they done so, Vargas' 9th inning HR would have tied the game. Did anyone ask Will V about that pulled-in infield?

Players, You will find that the life long memories you make will come from the experiences you have with your teammates and not the game itself. When soccer is finally over, you’ll miss your teammates the most. Enjoy and appreciate every moment! #CSTruth

I’ll be incredibly disappointed if Tyson Bagent isnt able to play for the Bears against Philly. Outside of the obvious advantage he gives us over other available options, Bagent is such a consummate professional. I want him to have the opportunity to show everyone what he’s got.

Researchers gave office workers who lived under LEDs a 60W incandescent desk lamp. Two weeks later, every one of them had their color vision improve by 25%. The government banned those bulbs in 2022 for "wasting" energy as infrared. But that "waste" is actually one of the most important nutrients our bodies depend upon, and the improvement lasted for weeks after the lamps were taken away (while nothing changed in the controls). Decades of forgotten research show the artificial light we replaced it with is a root cause of many inexplicable illnesses (e.g., insomnia, obesity, cancer, and hyperactivity in children). Here I show what that research found and how a bill now before the Senate can bring these bulbs back.🧵 midwesterndoctor.com/p/the-h…

Since I’ve become the resident doomer on White Sox Twitter lately, let me be glass half full for a second. After all that, they lost a grand total of 1 game in the standings to Cleveland in this series. And yet they secured the tiebreaker in the first game so it’s almost as if they didn’t lose any ground at all. The Sox final 10 games are against the Tigers (who are playing well right now to be fair), Royals, and Rockies, while the Guardians still have to play Boston at Fenway. The Sox still control their own destiny as far as I’m concerned. They just have to finish strong against teams they should beat.

Never before in my lifetime has the reality of evil spiritual influence been so nakedly transparent in American culture and popular media. What Scripture calls "the world forces of this darkness ... the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Eph 6:12) are no longer hiding in the shadows. They're now openly celebrated, marketed, defended, and paraded openly before us all. Never before has the Bible and its spiritual worldview been so vindicated in such a public way.

"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." - Jesus, John 15:13
25 years ago today Welles Crowther gave his life helping others on 9/11. This is the best story @espn has ever done. Share it with your kids and any others who may not have been alive on 9/11 and don’t know what true bravery in the face of evil is.

Good company @tristandpeters!
Feats for Tristan Peters in 2026: 6 RBI in a game 5 times on base in a game (H/BB/HBP) 4 straight games with a HR cycle grand slam walkoff HR Only 2 others in MLB history have done all of that in one season: Jimmie Foxx (1933) & Joe DiMaggio (1937).
