Wow
I hope City batter that bunch of virtue signalling arseholes on Sunday. The league is destroyed because of United, Kopites, Chelsea, Arsenal and Sky. Not because of Manchester City, yes they cheated, but only because it was the only way in. They haven’t outspent the cartel.

I explained this on a thread. People talk about FFP protecting clubs and "the red cartel" FFP came at an horrific time for Liverpool, we were days away from administration and bought by FSG for cheap. We had debt, we were poorly run and instantly in breach of FFP rules. Our owners got to work though, took on a bunch of American sponsors, got a new kit deal, at the time the biggest in the PL, and improved the stadium, all to increase revenue. Contracts were also changed, and new signings were put on much smaller contracts with win bonuses, and had to stay a certain % under our earnings to make sure we did not overspend. For years we were known as the club who had to sell to buy, from 2010-2017, we were limited in spending and every player was bought by selling others. Even recently, we signed Chiesa as the only major incoming for 11m to make sure we stayed in the 3 year FFP limit, because we knew we had to spend the following summer on ageing players / expired contracts. FFP did not help Liverpool, it hindered us, for years, but we played by the rules, we introduced data and moneyball tactics to get our advantage over other teams. We did not simply carry on spending and refuse to give PL documents to hide it, nor did we fraudulently inject cash into the club for a quick fix. Liverpool is a self sustained football club, not many in the PL can say that.
#LFC were on the verge of administration and FSG bought us at very low price. Since then they built slowly, developed stadium, used data and ofcourse Klopp to build the team. After more than a decade of work , club have finally reached at level to buy 100 million players.

🚨 Jurgen Klopp on whether he misses his rivalry with Pep Guardiola after taking charge of Germany: “I had my first proper sessions with Germany and afterwards I was sitting there thinking, ‘Okay… this is different.’ Then somebody asked me if there was anything I missed about club football. Unfortunately, I thought of Pep. [laughs] I spent years trying to get away from this man. You win 10 games, you look at the table and City have won 11. You get 97 points and somehow you’re 2nd. Before playing them you spend 3 days thinking about what Pep might change, then the game starts and he’s put a midfielder at left back for some reason. It was exhausting. But I miss it. Because we believed in football differently. Pep wanted control. I wanted the game to become something nobody could control. He wanted 25 passes before hurting you. Sometimes I wanted three. Neither of us changed for the other one. We just kept trying to prove our football could beat the other’s. And I think that’s why those Liverpool-City games felt different. It wasn’t only two great teams. It was two completely different answers to the same question. Now I’m with Germany and maybe one day Pep takes a national team. 🗣️ Reporter: “You actually want that?” 🗣️ Klopp: “Of course. Give him Spain. Give him Brazil. Give him whoever he wants. Then maybe we meet in a World Cup semi-final and spend another week pretending we’re enjoying ourselves. [laughs] I think football deserves one more. Pep once said he’d sleep better when I left Liverpool. He’s had enough sleep now.”

This is a fabricated quote attributed to Jurgen Klopp. The account regularly posts fictional football content as satire and Klopp's real recent statements about Germany contain no such remarks about Pep Guardiola. x.com/ChinoUTD/statu… dfb.de/news/klopp-suc… getfootballnewsgermany.com/2026/klopp-44-…

This is becoming more and more common across all supporter bases 😢
A long read, but its the truth! I genuinely think we are watching football loyalty slowly die and I don't know what replaces it. I've followed Man United home and away for decades. Thousands and thousands of miles, trains, cars, coaches, hotels, stupid kick off times, days off work and an absolutely frightening amount of money. But forget the money for a minute because you can always earn more money. You can't get the time back. Weekends away from your wife and kids, family things you've missed, holidays planned around fixtures, getting home at stupid o'clock then getting up for work a few hours later. And none of us were forced to do it. We did it because we fucking loved it. When the fixtures came out you didn't think do I fancy that game? You thought right, how am I getting there? That's the difference. And lately I've noticed more and more people I've known through football for years saying the same thing. "They can have my ticket." That's not normal. These aren't people who started supporting United because they won a trophy last year. These are lads who've been everywhere following them. And before rival fans jump on with the glory hunter stuff, that doesn't really wash anymore either. Yes, Manchester United were ridiculously successful. We were spoilt for years and I'll never pretend otherwise. But we've been mediocre for the best part of 12 years now. There are kids going to Old Trafford today who've never seen Manchester United win the league. For some of them, United being bang average is basically all they've ever known. What glory are they hunting? They're still going. Their dads and mams are still taking them. They're still buying the shirts, travelling away and growing up supporting United. So this isn't about demanding we win the league every year. Football fans can handle losing. Fuck me, we've proved that. It's everything else. You can have a Saturday night kick off now where you're £100 for a train, £100 for a hotel, ticket, food, drink and you're basically writing off 24 hours of your life. Sometimes you're fucked for work the next day as well. And increasingly you sit there thinking... What am I actually getting back from this? Not trophies. I don't mean that. I mean from the relationship with the club. Because it doesn't feel like a relationship anymore. It feels like a transaction. You're a membership number. A ticket account. A customer. And if after 20, 30, 40 years you finally say fuck this, you can have my ticket, it doesn't really matter. Someone else will take it. Probably someone who'll spend more money while they're there. They'll buy the shirt, go in the Megastore, buy the experience, take the photos and maybe pay hundreds more for something that used to simply be part of going to the football. Financially that might make perfect sense. But I think football is playing a very dangerous game. Because the people you're slowly replacing aren't customers. They're supporters. They're the people who went when it was brilliant and went when it was shit. The people who knew everyone around their seat. The people whose dad took them and who now take their own kids. The people who didn't need a "matchday experience" because the fucking match WAS the experience. And I don't even think this is just Manchester United. I'm hearing supporters from other clubs saying exactly the same things. Maybe we're just further down the road than some. Football is becoming an event. A day out. A product. Something you experience once and stick on Instagram. And maybe that's just the future. Maybe old fuckers like me need to accept it 😂 But here's the bit I'd worry about if I ran a football club. People aren't as angry anymore. They're just losing interest. There's a massive difference. Angry supporters still care. They protest. They complain. They sing about the owners. They demand change. When someone who's arranged their entire life around football for 30 years suddenly says... "Know what? I can't be arsed going."
