- ao3's social features were not part of the original design for the site
- there was long, serious, HEAVY debate on whether they should be added and if so in what form
- they remain HEAVILY contested among volunteers TO THIS DAY

Are there people who can and do make and develop connections? Of course! But that is not the *purpose* of ao3. It's not what it's *for.*

when rhetoric abt banning puberty blockers took off it was explicitly abt preserving the fertility of trans boys; it still is focused largely on that. it's not just a superficial appendage attached to transmisogyny
transmeds were offended that people refused to assume their gender bcse it hurt their feelings that people didn't immediately recognise their real gender by their obviously great cis-passing

i wish I could share the soc-dems' enthusiasm but every Democratic victory has the ironic effect of slowing down the political implications of leftists, since they think they've already made it (the Democrats still supports Israel there is no actual left-wing party in the US etc)

it's cool that Irreversible Damage, a book specifically about trans men, must actually be worse for trans women, because transphobia against trans men isn't a serious enough problem on its own
