We really appreciate @Oprah continuing to shine a light on women’s mental health, in particular postpartum depression and PP Psychosis. It’s so important for our country to begin to acknowledge, understand and make changes to the health care system so that tragedies like Lindsay’s case can be avoided.
All the way back on August 15th, while I was in MA to cover the trial we took 8 hours on a Saturday for our Mental Health Awareness live…we had brave women share their harrowing and tragic stories of their struggles with mental health. We had mental health providers ranging from Nurse Practitioners to Psychiatrists on during the live at all times to provide support. It was one of the most powerful and educational days YT has ever seen. We also were introduced to the incredible Lisa Tremayne who runs the ONLY Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) Center in the U.S. in NJ. We are continuing to work closely with Lisa to spread awareness because every city in the county needs one as they SAVE LIVES and being woman back to good mental health. The work Lisa does is incredible.
Part 2 of will be happening next week as we have many, many women’s stories left to share. In the meantime, educate yourself. Learn of the realities of the incredibly difficult mental health struggles women face from women who have survived many of which still fight to this day. It’s powerful. Brace yourselves.
