How do you honor a legend? @TobyHanson24 of the @DelanoAthletics changed his number in memory of his former coach, Gopher legend John Anderson. What happened next was special.

14 wasnโt just the Gopher head coach. He was the state of Minnesotaโs coach. He was a true connection to our high school programs and a large promoter of amateur ball. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.
A true legend we simply cannot replace.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Hall of Fame coach John Anderson.
Our thoughts are with his wife Jan, their daughter Erin, and the thousands he impacted during his 43 years as head coach of the Gophers.

Finishing up my story from today and just thinking about what the Delano A's just did.
They missed the entire state tournament in 2023. After moving back to three classes, they were bumped up to Class B. They lost their ace pitcher Max Otto who's one of the best pitchers in the state. They joined one of the best, if the not best, leagues in the state. They batted through one of the toughest District Tournaments in the state and made it out. They caught fire at the right time getting contributions from all over the roster and are now state champions.
Incredible.
