Sen MURPHY also calls on Sen Menendez to resign, “I think it's pretty clear that the best path for Senator Menendez right now is to step aside.” He also says they should consider a pause on the waiver of money to Egypt, “pending an inquiry into what Egypt was doing.”

Two weeks ago the Biden admin waived rights conditions on $235m in military aid to Egypt on "national security grounds." Turns out, Egypt was actively undermining U.S. national security (not to mention our democracy) at that very moment. Congress cannot let the aid go forward.

I would genuinely love to have a conversation w/ these authors about Salah Soltan, a US LPR unjustly detained in Egypt for TEN YEARS now despite no evidence of wrongdoing. I applaud the Iran efforts. But it's well past time to apply the clear pressure to Egypt to release Salah.
